New Delhi: INS Sanshodhak has emerged as a symbol of India’s growing maritime strength and self-reliance. The Indian Navy has officially unveiled the crest of INS ‘Sanshodhak’, the fourth and final ship of the Survey Vessel Large (SVL) class.
Built in India by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), the vessel highlights the country’s expanding indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and supports the government’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Details of Indian Navy Sanshodhak
The Indian Navy unveiled the official crest of Sanshodhak on June 9, 2026.
According to the Navy:
- The crest represents the full spectrum of hydrographic operations.
- The vessel is the fourth ship in the Survey Vessel Large (SVL) class.
- It has been built in India by GRSE.
- The unveiling showcases India’s progress in indigenous warship construction.
The Navy also highlighted the ship’s Sanskrit motto:
“Maargsy netaa, saagrsy vettaa“
This translates to:
“Leading the Way, Mastering the Oceans.”

Sanshodhak, meaning “Researcher“, is the fourth and final vessel under the Indian Navy’s Survey Vessel Large project. The ship was launched in June 2023 and delivered to the Navy on March 30, 2026.
