CM Highlights Technology-Driven Agriculture
At the launch, Patel said the seven products reflected Gujarat’s stated journey from “Viksit Krushi” to “Viksit Gujarat” and highlighted GSFC’s focus on technology-driven agricultural inputs.
The Chief Minister said the initiatives would help farmers with crop protection and, according to the government, support improvements in produce quality, value addition, processing and access to global markets.
Patel also congratulated GSFC’s scientists and researchers involved in developing the products.
Agriculture Minister Urges Responsible Pesticide Use
Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani said the products had been developed following research and were being introduced with attention to crop and soil quality.
He said the products were intended to protect crops from pests and weeds and said efforts had been made to make them available to farmers at reasonable prices.
Vaghani also urged farmers to use chemical pesticides only when necessary and in the prescribed quantity.
According to the government, the products use a formulation approach under which pesticides remain effective against pests for a specified period before breaking down in the soil.
GSFC Expands Crop Protection Portfolio
GSFC, a Gujarat government undertaking, has historically been associated with fertilisers and agricultural inputs. The launch adds seven products to its crop protection portfolio under the Sardar brand.
The company will use its existing Kisan Suvidha Kendra network and authorised distribution channels to make the products available to farmers.
‘Krushijivan’ Agriculture Magazine Unveiled
During the event, Patel and other dignitaries also unveiled ‘Krushijivan’, an agriculture magazine based on research by agricultural scientists.
The publication is intended to provide farmers with information and guidance on crop-related matters.
GSFC Chairman and Gujarat Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Managing Director Rajender Kumar, Director Ashwini Kumar and other senior officials and employees were also present at the event.
