Gujarat Govt Approves Industrial Projects Worth Over ₹2,999 Crore, Expected to Create Thousands of Jobs

Projects approved under multiple incentive schemes will boost manufacturing, textile development and industrial infrastructure across Gujarat while strengthening the state's investment ecosystem.

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has approved industrial projects involving investments of more than ₹2,999 crore under various incentive schemes, in a major push to strengthen manufacturing, improve industrial infrastructure and create employment opportunities across the state.

The approvals were granted during a series of high-level committee meetings chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Industries Minister Harsh Sanghavi.

The state government said the initiatives are aligned with Gujarat’s broader objective of attracting large-scale investments and establishing the state as a leading hub for advanced manufacturing, technology and innovation.

Industrial Policy-2015 Incentive Scheme Drives Investment

The Gujarat government highlighted the role of the Incentives to Industries Scheme under the Industrial Policy-2015 in attracting investments and supporting socio-economic development.

Under the scheme, eligible industries establishing operations in Gujarat are provided reimbursement of Net State Goods and Services Tax (SGST).

According to government officials, the policy has so far helped facilitate:

  • ₹1,48,336.35 crore in investments across Gujarat.
  • 1,65,053 direct employment opportunities.
  • Growth of ancillary micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
  • Strengthening of the state’s overall industrial ecosystem.

The government said the scheme is designed to attract major investments while encouraging the development of advanced manufacturing, technology and innovation sectors.

32 Large Industrial Projects Approved with ₹1,978 Crore Investment

At a meeting held on 27 July, the committee responsible for granting Final Eligibility Certificates to large industries approved 32 industrial projects.

The projects involve a combined investment of ₹1,978.04 crore and are expected to generate around 4,739 direct employment opportunities.

The approved investments are spread across several districts of Gujarat.

District-wise investment includes:

  • Ahmedabad: ₹528.49 crore
  • Kutch: ₹332.71 crore
  • Gandhinagar: ₹35.41 crore
  • Bharuch: ₹12.26 crore
  • Mehsana: ₹301.16 crore
  • Morbi: ₹480.16 crore
  • Vadodara: ₹102.94 crore
  • Sabarkantha: ₹110.42 crore
  • Surat: ₹74.49 crore

The projects cover a wide range of industries, including:

  • Automobile
  • Metal
  • Cement
  • Concrete
  • Plastic
  • Ceramic
  • Chemical
  • Paper
  • Textile
  • Pharmaceutical

The diverse nature of these investments is expected to contribute to industrial growth across multiple sectors and regions of the state.

₹649 Crore Project Approved Under Capital Subsidy Scheme

Separately, a project involving an investment of ₹649.23 crore was approved under the Capital Subsidy to Large Industries and Thrust Sector Scheme.

The project is expected to create approximately 871 direct employment opportunities.

The state government said the investment will help strengthen Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem and contribute to both direct and indirect employment generation.

Three Textile Units Get Financial Assistance

The seventh meeting of the State-Level Empowered Committee under the Scheme for Assistance to Strengthen Specific Segments in the Textile Value Chain-2019 also approved financial assistance for three textile units.

Together, the three units represent:

  • Total investment: ₹165 crore
  • Expected direct employment: Around 500 jobs
  • Financial assistance: More than ₹50 crore over the next five years

Under the scheme, eligible textile units receive support in the form of interest subsidies and power tariff assistance.

The government said the assistance will help strengthen Gujarat’s textile value chain while encouraging investment and employment generation in the sector.

Four Industrial Park Projects Approved Under Gujarat Industrial Policy-2020

The government also approved four projects under the Scheme for Assistance to Industrial Parks under the Gujarat Industrial Policy-2020.

The projects involve a combined investment of more than ₹371.70 crore.

The industrial park projects are aimed at:

  • Strengthening industrial infrastructure.
  • Developing dedicated industrial facilities.
  • Improving the state’s investment ecosystem.
  • Supporting future industrial expansion.
  • Creating an enabling environment for businesses and investors.

The government expects these initiatives to further enhance Gujarat’s position as an attractive destination for domestic and global investment.

Gujarat Focuses on Manufacturing, Investment and Job Creation

The latest approvals reflect the Gujarat government’s continued focus on promoting industrial development through targeted incentives and financial assistance.With investments spread across sectors such as automobiles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, ceramics, metals and engineering-related industries, the projects are expected to strengthen the state’s manufacturing base.

The combination of large industrial investments, textile sector support and new industrial park development is also expected to create employment opportunities and encourage the growth of ancillary MSMEs.The state government said these initiatives will contribute to Gujarat’s long-term industrial growth while strengthening its position as a preferred investment destination.
