Gandhinaga: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted a late-night high-level review meeting at the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) to assess the prevailing rain situation across the state and review preparedness measures.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister received detailed updates from officials of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and district Collectors regarding rainfall conditions, weather forecasts, rescue operations and relief measures in affected areas.
CM Bhupendra Patel Reviews Weather Situation and District Preparedness
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the SEOC on Thursday night and reviewed the impact of ongoing rainfall in different parts of Gujarat.
IMD officials informed the Chief Minister about the possibility of widespread rainfall across the state in the coming days.
CM Patel sought detailed information about rainfall recorded between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, especially in:
- South Gujarat districts.
- Dholka in Ahmedabad district.
- Mahemdabad in Kheda district.
- Mehsana district.
The Chief Minister directed officials to remain on high alert throughout the night and closely monitor the situation to ensure timely action in case of further rainfall.
SEOC Maintains Constant Contact with District Administrations
The State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) is continuously coordinating with district administrations through its hotline network.
Officials are monitoring:
- Rainfall conditions.
- Waterlogging and flood situations.
- Rescue and relief operations.
- Essential services in affected regions.
The state administration has been instructed to ensure immediate response and coordination during emergency situations.
NDRF Teams Deployed for Rescue and Relief Operations
During the review meeting, officials informed the Chief Minister that four National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in South Gujarat.
Deployment details:
- Two NDRF teams in Valsad.
- One NDRF team in Navsari.
- One NDRF team kept on standby in Surat.
The teams are equipped with:
- Rescue boats.
- Emergency equipment.
- Relief operation resources.
Additionally, NDRF and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed in parts of Saurashtra as a precautionary measure.
More Than 22,000 People Shifted to Safer Areas
As part of precautionary measures, authorities carried out evacuation operations in rain-affected regions.
Key updates:
- 352 people were rescued in South Gujarat during the day.
- More than 22,000 people from Navsari and Valsad were shifted to safer locations.
The rescue teams continue to support district administrations in ensuring public safety.
CM Reviews Electricity Supply in Rain-Affected Areas
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also reviewed the status of electricity supply in affected regions.
Officials were directed to ensure uninterrupted essential services and take immediate steps wherever disruptions occur due to heavy rainfall.
Administration Fully Prepared to Handle Rain Situation
Chief Secretary M. K. Das informed the Chief Minister that the state administration is fully prepared to manage the situation with adequate:
- Manpower.
- Machinery.
- Rescue equipment.
- Emergency response resources.
The administration is closely monitoring rainfall developments and maintaining coordination among all departments.
Post-Rainfall Measures: Cleaning, Road Repairs and Health Services Prioritised
CM Bhupendra Patel directed officials to begin restoration activities on priority once rainfall decreases and floodwaters recede.
The Chief Minister instructed authorities to focus on:
- Cleaning operations.
- Road repair work.
- Restoration of public infrastructure.
- Public health measures.
- Prevention of water-related diseases.
The Gujarat government continues to monitor the rain situation and has directed all departments to remain prepared for emergency response and relief operations.
