Eighteen IAS probationers from the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, visited Tinsukia district on Wednesday as part of their winter study tour. The visit aimed to provide practical exposure to the functioning of district administration.
Guided by Tinsukia District Commissioner Swapneel Paul, the probationers conducted extensive field visits across various parts of the district. These visits offered valuable insights into the implementation of government schemes and administrative processes at the grassroots level.
A highlight of the tour was a two-hour interactive session with DC Swapneel Paul, a 2018-batch IAS officer, during which the young probationers engaged in detailed discussions about the nuances of district administration. Paul shared his personal experiences and emphasized the importance of such exposure in shaping their understanding of governance.
“This kind of practical exposure is invaluable for young officers. It helps them understand the real challenges and complexities involved in district administration. When I was a probationer, similar exposure visits helped shape my understanding of administration. Today, as a serving officer, I can confidently say that these experiences are crucial in molding effective administrators,” Paul remarked.
The probationers expressed keen interest in understanding the unique challenges faced by Tinsukia, particularly in areas such as rural development, law and order, and welfare scheme implementation. They raised pertinent questions on practical administrative strategies and approaches to tackling local issues.
This hands-on experience is expected to play a vital role in preparing the probationers for their future roles as administrators. The visit underscored the significance of field exposure in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and on-ground realities.
