Arunachal DGP Interacts with 24 IPS Probationers at Itanagar PHQ, Emphasises Ethics and Leadership

Arunachal Pradesh DGP interacted with 24 IPS probationers of the 2025 batch at Police Headquarters, Itanagar, stressing ethics, leadership, and public service while encouraging young officers to prepare for the evolving challenges of modern policing.

Itanagar: Dr Shiv Darshan (S D) Singh Jamwal, an IPS officer of 1995 batch from AGMUT cadre and Director General of Police (DGP), Arunachal Pradesh, on Tuesday interacted with 24 IPS probationers of the 2025 batch at the Conference Hall of the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Itanagar, encouraging the young officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and public service as they begin their careers in the Indian Police Service.

The interaction programme provided the probationers with an opportunity to engage directly with the state’s top police leadership and gain valuable insights into the responsibilities and challenges of policing in Arunachal Pradesh.

Warm Welcome for Young IPS Officers

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Inspector General of Police (Administration), who greeted the probationers and highlighted the significance of the interaction.

The IPS probationers also addressed the gathering, sharing their experiences, expectations and aspirations as they prepare to take on the responsibilities of policing in different parts of the country.

DGP Highlights Professional Ethics and Leadership

Addressing the probationers, the Director General of Police presented mementos to the young officers and spoke on various aspects of police service.

He emphasised the importance of:

  • Professional ethics and integrity
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Commitment to public service
  • Adapting to evolving policing challenges
  • Upholding law and order with dedication and accountability

The DGP encouraged the probationers to remain people-centric in their approach and to carry out their duties with honesty, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility.

Preparing Officers for Modern Policing

The interaction focused on preparing the probationers for the dynamic nature of modern policing, where officers are expected to address emerging security challenges while maintaining public trust and ensuring effective law enforcement.

The session offered first-hand guidance from the state’s senior-most police officer, helping the young IPS officers better understand the expectations associated with their future roles.

Interactive Session Concludes

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Headquarters), followed by refreshments.

The interaction served as a valuable mentoring platform for the 2025 batch IPS probationers, enabling them to learn from the experience of senior police leadership as they embark on their journey in the Indian Police Service.
