Bengaluru: In a routine administrative move, the Karnataka Government has transferred three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, issuing a late-night notification on Tuesday to effect the changes.
The reshuffle impacts key positions in Intelligence, Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), and Central Range, reflecting internal restructuring within the state police.
Ravi S Appointed ADGP, KSRP
Senior IPS officer Ravi S (1998 batch) has been transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP).
- He replaces Sandeep Patil, who was holding additional charge
- Previously served as ADGP (Intelligence)

Labhu Ram Takes Over Intelligence Wing
Labhu Ram (2004 batch) has been appointed as Inspector General of Police (Intelligence).
- Earlier served as IGP, Central Range
- The post has been classified as a downgraded position in the reshuffle
S Girish Posted as DIG, Central Range
S Girish (2012 batch) has been transferred and appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Central Range.
- Previously served as DIG, Anti-Narcotic Task Force
- The post has also been marked as a downgraded assignment
Equivalence of Posts Clarified
The government notification also clarified the status equivalence of key posts under Rule 12 of the IPS (Pay) Rules, 2016:
- IGP (Intelligence) declared equivalent to IGP, Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
- DIG, Central Range (Bengaluru) declared equivalent to DIG, CID
This ensures parity in rank, responsibilities, and service conditions despite structural changes.

While termed a routine reshuffle, the transfers indicate a strategic reallocation of senior officers across crucial wings of the police force, particularly Intelligence and field operations.
