Dharmapuri: The Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Omkarnath Music Foundation Trust under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to support infrastructure development at Swar-Sadhana Tapovan, a Gurukul located in Dharmapuri district, Tamil Nadu.
The Gurukul is associated with Padma Vibhushan Dr. N. Rajam and focuses on preserving and promoting the rich traditions of Indian classical music through the traditional residential Gurukul learning system.
Strengthening Infrastructure for Traditional Music Education
Under the agreement, IRFC Foundation will provide support for key infrastructure and facility development at the Gurukul.
The planned support includes:
- CCTV surveillance and security systems
- Mandapam flooring development
- Audio-visual teaching equipment
- Residential rooms for gurus and staff
Officials said the initiative is aimed at improving learning conditions while preserving India’s cultural and musical heritage for future generations.
Promoting Gurukul-Based Learning System
Swar-Sadhana Tapovan follows the traditional Gurukul model, where students live and learn under the direct guidance of experienced gurus in an immersive environment.
The CSR initiative is expected to:
- Strengthen classical music education infrastructure
- Preserve traditional teaching methods
- Support residential learning facilities
- Promote Indian cultural heritage globally
Leadership Commitment to Cultural Preservation
IRFC CMD Manoj Kumar Dubey, a strong admirer of Indian classical music traditions, emphasized the importance of preserving timeless art forms.
He stated that these traditions “infuse breath, blood, and vibrance into the soul of Bharat,” highlighting the cultural significance of the initiative.
The project was formally launched following a visit by Padma Vibhushan Dr. N. Rajam to IRFC’s office, a day after she was conferred the Padma award by the Hon’ble President of India.
