A desperate plea from a woman in Aligarh set off a high-stakes rescue operation on Tuesday, leading to the swift release of her kidnapped husband in Nagaland within four hours. The incident unfolded when Nasreen, a resident of Loco Colony, approached SP (Rural) Aligarh, IPS officer Mr. Amrit Jain, seeking urgent help. She had received a chilling call from her husband’s mobile phone, informing her that he had been taken hostage by armed men who were demanding a ransom of Rs 2.5 lakh. The kidnappers threatened to kill him if the money was not paid.
The Rescue Operation Begins
Upon receiving this distressing information, SP Jain immediately sprang into action. Realizing the gravity of the situation, he contacted police officers posted in Nagaland to trace the location of the victim, Khalid Ahmed. “We had very limited information at the beginning. The woman didn’t even know her husband’s exact location, only that he was in Nagaland,” SP Jain stated.
Khalid, originally from Dibai in Bulandshahr, had moved to Aligarh with his family several years ago. Recently, he had traveled to Nagaland with his nephew, Sajid, in search of work. Unbeknownst to Khalid, Sajid had borrowed Rs 2.5 lakh from some locals and fled without repaying the money. When Khalid reached the railway station to return home, a group of five armed men abducted him, demanding that his family arrange the outstanding amount.
Coordinated Efforts with Nagaland Police
With time running out, SP Jain reached out to his contacts in Nagaland, including IPS officers Vaishali Jain, Aekant jain, and Akash Sinha. Using mobile phone tracking and surveillance techniques, the team managed to pinpoint Khalid’s location in Dimapur district. “We needed to act fast because the kidnappers had already issued a death threat. Any delay could have been fatal,” SP Jain explained.
The Nagaland Police quickly formulated a plan. They first made contact with the kidnappers, posing as Khalid’s relatives and offering to arrange the ransom money. While keeping the kidnappers engaged in conversation, police teams moved in on the location. Within three to four hours of the initial complaint, Khalid was safely rescued.
Arrests and Investigation
Following the successful rescue, all five kidnappers were arrested. An investigation revealed that the abductors had ties with local criminal groups engaged in extortion. The case has now been registered by Nagaland Police, and further action is underway to ensure justice.
Khalid’s family expressed their immense relief and gratitude towards both Aligarh and Nagaland Police. His brother-in-law, Munazir Khan, said, “We had no idea where he was. SP Jain and his team worked tirelessly to locate him and bring him back safely. We cannot thank them enough.”
Reflecting on the operation, SP Jain emphasized the importance of swift police coordination. “This case shows how crucial teamwork is in tackling crimes that span different states. I appreciate my colleagues in Nagaland for their immediate support,” he said.
