A recent analysis of property disclosures submitted by IPS officers posted in Uttar Pradesh has revealed a striking disparity in wealth among the state’s top police officials. While some officers own lavish bungalows and vast farmlands, others have reported no personal property at all. The data, submitted to the Central Government, covers police captains posted across all 68 districts of the state.

At the top of the list is Mr. Vinod Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kannauj, who owns property valued the highest among his peers. His total assets include two properties in Lucknow and seven in Chitrakoot, though a significant portion of it is reported to be ancestral wealth.
In contrast, the SPs of Hathras and Shahjahanpur have not submitted their property details, while officers in 22 districts have officially declared no property in their name. Interestingly, there are four SPs, including two women officers, who previously held property but currently report zero assets.
As per the 7th Pay Commission, a district SP draws a basic monthly salary ranging from Rs. 56,000 to Rs. 1.5 lakh, along with a host of luxury perks based on their pay scale. These benefits include government housing, security personnel, cook, domestic help, an official vehicle with limited petrol, and a driver. Additionally, officers receive various allowances.

- Mr. Neeraj Kumar Jadaun (SP, Hardoi) – Total properties: 6 (4 in Jalaun, 2 in Agra)
- Dr. Abhishek Mahajan (SP, Siddharthnagar) – Total properties: 6 (4 in Kashmir, 2 in Lucknow)
- Dr. Durgesh Kumar (SP, Jalaun) – Total properties: 6 (4 in Maharajganj, 1 each in Lucknow and Mau)
Lucknow and Noida: The Most Preferred Cities for Investment
When it comes to real estate, Lucknow and Noida emerge as the most favored locations for IPS officers in Uttar Pradesh. In Lucknow alone, 17 SPs have purchased homes and plots, including officers from nearby districts like Barabanki and Sitapur. These investments include a total of 26 properties comprising houses, plots, and agricultural land.
Noida follows closely, with SPs from 10 districts owning 17 properties, which include luxury flats, homes, shops, and open plots.
In stark contrast, SPs posted in the following 22 districts have declared no property ownership.
