Bhopal: Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed that organic farming be actively promoted in the tribal regions of Madhya Pradesh, with a special focus on studying successful models from other states.
Chairing a review meeting of the Tribal Affairs Department in Bhopal, the Chief Minister suggested sending a study team to Dantewada, where tribal farmers are already practicing organic farming successfully.
The meeting was attended by Tribal Affairs Minister Dr. Vijay Shah, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, senior administrative officials, and department heads.
Tribal Areas to Be Developed Through Integrated Approach
Dr. Yadav emphasized that tribal development must be holistic, combining education, livelihood, and cultural preservation.
He directed officials to:
- Improve quality of education in tribal schools, hostels, and ashrams
- Involve NGOs and social organizations in development work
- Strengthen inter-departmental coordination for better service delivery
- Promote livestock farming and increase milk production in tribal communities
The Chief Minister stressed that convergence between departments is essential to ensure effective development in tribal regions.
Special Focus on Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs)
The government reaffirmed its commitment to the development of particularly vulnerable tribal groups, including:
- Baiga
- Bharia
- Saharia
Dr. Yadav instructed officials to ensure continuous and focused efforts for their socio-economic upliftment.
Strong Education Outcomes and Scholarship Support
Officials informed that tribal districts have shown strong academic performance in recent years.
Key highlights include:
- 7 tribal districts among top 10 performing districts in Class 10 and 12 results (2026)
- ₹137.52 crore distributed to 3.65 lakh Class 9–10 tribal students under scholarship schemes
- ₹673.64 crore provided to 4.28 lakh students under post-matric scholarship schemes
- Operation of 2,671 hostels and ashram schools across the state
The Chief Minister directed continuous improvement in education quality and student welfare infrastructure.
Financial Support for Tribal Women Under Nutrition Scheme
Tribal Affairs Minister Dr. Vijay Shah informed that under the government’s nutrition support scheme:
- ₹1,500 per month is being directly transferred to eligible tribal women heads of households
- 2,37,550 women have benefited since December 2023
- A total of ₹432 crore has been disbursed so far
This initiative aims to improve nutrition, financial stability, and household welfare in tribal communities.
Organic Farming Push Inspired by Successful Models
The Chief Minister highlighted that tribal regions must adopt sustainable agricultural practices such as organic farming.
The proposed study visit to Dantewada is expected to help replicate successful tribal farming models in Madhya Pradesh.
He said such initiatives will strengthen:
- Agricultural sustainability
- Soil health and productivity
- Income generation for tribal farmers
- Environment-friendly farming practices
Vision for Inclusive Tribal Development
Dr. Mohan Yadav reiterated that tribal welfare remains a top priority for the state government.
He emphasized coordinated development across education, agriculture, health, and livelihood sectors to ensure long-term socio-economic progress in tribal regions of Madhya Pradesh.
