New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Administration, Khordha, for implementing developmental projects worth ₹1.20 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The projects are aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure, improving basic community facilities and promoting the use of renewable energy across Khordha district in Odisha.
MCL to Upgrade Four Libraries in Khordha
As part of the CSR initiative, MCL will undertake the upgradation of four libraries located in different blocks of Khordha district.
The libraries covered under the project are located in:
- Balianta
- Bhubaneswar
- Khordha
- Jatni
The initiative is aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure and improving access to better library facilities for local communities.
20 Solar High Mast Lights to Be Installed
The project also includes the installation of 20 Solar High Mast Lights across eight blocks of Khordha district.
The solar-powered lighting infrastructure will help improve basic community facilities while encouraging the use of renewable energy.
The initiative combines community infrastructure development with a focus on cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
MCL Focuses on Education and Renewable Energy
The two components of the project are designed to address key community needs in the district.
Key highlights of the MCL CSR initiative include:
- Total project outlay of ₹1.20 crore.
- Upgradation of four libraries.
- Libraries located across Balianta, Bhubaneswar, Khordha and Jatni Blocks.
- Installation of 20 Solar High Mast Lights.
- Lighting infrastructure to cover eight blocks.

Through the projects, MCL is working towards strengthening educational facilities and improving basic infrastructure for communities in Khordha.
The library development component is expected to support access to educational resources, while the solar lighting initiative will contribute to improved community facilities and greater adoption of renewable energy.
