Mahanadi Coalfields Signs ₹3.93 Crore CSR MoUs for Rural Development, Infrastructure and Livelihood Projects in Odisha

MCL to support farmer clusters, road construction, drainage systems and civic upgrades across Angul and Talcher to boost local development and sanitation.

Odisha: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited has signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹3.93 crore with the Angul district administration in Odisha under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The initiatives aim to strengthen rural infrastructure, improve civic amenities, and support livelihood generation in the region.

Focus on Rural Livelihood and Farmer Support Initiatives

As part of the CSR projects, MCL will support the development of aroma clusters in the villages of Tainsi, Bantal, and Bagedia. The initiative is designed to enhance income opportunities for farmers and promote sustainable agricultural practices in Angul district.

Officials said the programme will help strengthen rural livelihoods while encouraging value-added agricultural activities in the region.

Road and Drainage Infrastructure Development in Dhouragatha

The company will also undertake road construction and cross-drainage improvement works in Dhouragatha village. These projects are aimed at improving local connectivity, transportation efficiency, and flood management systems.

The development is expected to benefit residents by ensuring better access to nearby markets, services, and essential infrastructure.

Civic Amenities and Drainage Projects in Talcher Municipality

Under the agreement, MCL will also implement six civic infrastructure and drainage projects in Talcher Municipality with an investment of around ₹1 crore.

These initiatives focus on:

  • Strengthening urban drainage systems
  • Improving sanitation facilities
  • Upgrading basic civic infrastructure

Authorities said these upgrades will enhance urban living conditions and public hygiene standards.

Commitment to Inclusive and Sustainable Development

MCL stated that these CSR initiatives reflect its commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development in its operational areas. The projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity, sanitation, and overall quality of life for communities in Angul district.

The company reiterated its focus on long-term socio-economic development through targeted infrastructure and livelihood support programmes.
