Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav performed the bhoomi pujan for the installation of a 25-foot-tall statue of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Dussehra Maidan in Indore.
The statue is being developed by the Indore Municipal Corporation at a garden located at Dussehra Maidan on Annapurna Road. The project, including the statue and pedestal, has an estimated cost of ₹197.13 lakh (around ₹1.97 crore). The initiative is aimed at preserving Vajpayee’s memories, personality and ideals of national service and presenting them to future generations.
25-Foot Atal Bihari Vajpayee Statue to Be Built in Indore
The proposed statue will stand 25 feet tall and will be constructed using gunmetal.
The project includes both the statue and its pedestal and is proposed to be completed within approximately four months.

CM Mohan Yadav Says Statue Will Inspire Future Generations
CM Mohan Yadav said installing Vajpayee’s statue at a prominent public location such as Dussehra Maidan is more than the construction of a memorial.
According to the Chief Minister, the statue will serve as an important medium for taking Vajpayee’s thoughts and ideals to future generations.
He said the memorial will introduce citizens, particularly young people, to Vajpayee’s life and his contributions to:
- National service and nation-building
- Patriotism
- Good governance
- Democratic values
- National unity
The Chief Minister added that the statue will help visitors understand and draw inspiration from Vajpayee’s life, principles and commitment to the country.
Memorial to Preserve Vajpayee’s Legacy
The statue site is planned as a permanent memorial reflecting Vajpayee’s ideals of national service, good governance, democratic values and national unity.
The Madhya Pradesh government said the project will provide citizens and young people with an opportunity to learn about the former Prime Minister’s contribution to public life and draw inspiration from his values.
With its prominent location at Dussehra Maidan, the memorial is expected to become an important public landmark in Indore.
