Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced a sweeping set of reforms aimed at transforming Madhya Pradesh into the “Milk Capital of India,” including assured milk procurement from all livestock farmers, better pricing, and large-scale investment in the dairy sector.
Addressing the State-Level Livestock and Dairy Producers Conference in Gwalior, the Chief Minister said the government will purchase all milk produced by cattle and ensure fair and remunerative prices for dairy farmers.
Government to Buy Entire Milk Production from Farmers
CM Yadav announced that the state government will procure milk from both cows and buffaloes, ensuring farmers receive proper market rates.
He said dairy farming is the backbone of rural economy and emphasized that the state is moving toward a mission-mode approach to increase milk production and farmer income.

Major Announcements for Livestock Development
The Chief Minister made several key announcements, including:
- A Cattle Wellness Centre in Gwalior
- Upgradation of existing veterinary health centres
- A new veterinary hospital in Dabra
- Expansion of mobile veterinary services (Gau-Ambulance system)
He also said that farmers whose land is acquired for development projects will now receive four times compensation, calling it a gesture of gratitude.
“Vrindavan Gram” and Dairy Expansion Model
The government is developing one Vrindavan village in every block to strengthen rural dairy-based livelihoods.
Subsidy support has also been increased, including:
- ₹40 per cattle (up from ₹20) for maintenance support
- ₹10 lakh subsidy for setting up dairy units with 25 cows
- Promotion of modern dairy technology and infrastructure
Dairy Sector Growth and Employment Push
CM Yadav said dairy investment will generate rural employment and encourage youth to stay in villages. The state is working with the National Dairy Development Board to scale up milk production.
Key highlights:
- Milk collection increased from 9 lakh to 12 lakh litres per day
- Target set to reach 50 lakh litres per day
- Over 5 lakh cattle currently supported through gaushalas

Major Gaushala and Rural Economy Model
The Chief Minister highlighted success stories like:
- Lal Tipara Model Gaushala (Gwalior) with 10,000+ cattle
- Production of organic fertilizer and bio-energy from cow waste
- Expansion of self-sustaining gaushalas across the state
Focus on Rural Prosperity and Dairy-Based Economy
CM Yadav reiterated that Madhya Pradesh aims to strengthen rural income through dairy farming and make livestock rearing a key pillar of the state economy.
He added that modern dairy systems, better livestock care, and farmer participation will help the state achieve its goal of becoming India’s leading milk-producing region.
