Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav transferred ₹2,148 crore to the bank accounts of more than 1.25 crore beneficiaries under the Ladli Behna Scheme during a programme in Maihar on Tuesday. Along with the regular ₹1,500 monthly assistance, beneficiaries received an additional ₹250 as a Rakhi gift for the month of Sawan.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹256 crore and announced several new projects for Maihar.
CM Mohan Yadav Gives Ladli Behnas a Rakhi Gift
Addressing the gathering, CM Mohan Yadav sang the popular song “Phoolon Ka Taron Ka” while speaking about the relationship between the government and women beneficiaries.
He said Raksha Bandhan comes once a year, but the government provides financial support to Ladli Behna beneficiaries every month. The additional ₹250, he said, was a special gift for the festival.
Yadav encouraged women to use the financial assistance for household needs and income-generating activities, including sewing machines and beauty parlours.
Ladli Behna Assistance to Continue for Five Years
The Chief Minister said the state government has decided to continue providing financial assistance to Ladli Behna beneficiaries for the next five years.
He also highlighted efforts to increase women’s income through self-help groups. According to him, the government plans to support industries that provide employment opportunities to women by offering ₹5,000 per woman.
The initiative is aimed at linking welfare assistance with opportunities for greater economic participation among women.

Major Development Projects Announced for Maihar
The Maihar programme also brought several infrastructure announcements. The Chief Minister announced a modern stadium at a cost of ₹25 crore and ₹50 crore for renovation of the Lilji reservoir.
Other announcements include a major hospital, a 5,000-cattle-capacity gaushala and a new ITI. Schools in the area will also be upgraded.
The government will provide ₹25,000 to committees of Alha folk singers, according to the announcements made during the programme.
Yadav also said the first phase of the proposed Maa Maihar Lok had received its foundation stone. He further stated that development works worth more than ₹3,000 crore have been approved for Chitrakoot.

Narmada Water Project to Benefit Villages
The Chief Minister said the long-pending canal project aimed at bringing Narmada water to the region has now been completed.
He said the project was initially estimated to cost ₹2,000 crore but was restarted with an investment of ₹800 crore after facing implementation challenges. The government now aims to ensure that Narmada water reaches villages across the region.
Yadav also announced that farmers would receive electricity during the daytime for the upcoming crop season. He added that eligible poor families whose houses remain pending will also receive housing support.

Focus on Women, Infrastructure and Social Welfare
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to curb drug abuse, noting that liquor shops have been closed in 19 religious cities. He also urged families to remain vigilant and protect children and young people from addiction.
The Maihar programme combined women’s financial assistance with development plans covering infrastructure, healthcare, education, employment and agriculture. The ₹2,148-crore Ladli Behna transfer and Rakhi assistance offer immediate support, while projects such as a stadium, hospital, ITI and reservoir renovation aim to strengthen local public services.
