Controversies in Datia and Katni Prompt Major Administrative Action
Indian Masterminds Stories

Bhopal: In a sweeping administrative overhaul, 10 IPS officers were transferred across Madhya Pradesh following direct intervention by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav. The decision comes in the wake of high-profile controversies and internal disputes that have drawn significant public and political attention.

Senior officers, including Chambal Range IG Sushant Kumar Saxena, DIG Kumar Saurabh, Katni SP Abhijeet Ranjan, and Datia SP Virendra Kumar Mishra, have been removed and reassigned.

Chief Minister Acts After Internal Clashes & Public Incidents

The reshuffle was triggered by two separate incidents

  • In Datia, an internal altercation during arrangements for the airport inauguration ceremony on May 31 reportedly occurred between the IG, DIG, and SP, in front of BJP workers and the public.
  • In Katni, SP Abhijeet Ranjan was involved in a controversy stemming from a domestic dispute between Tehsildar Shailendra Bihari Sharma and his wife, CSP Khyati Mishra, which resulted in public unrest and statewide attention.

Taking to social media platform X, CM Yadav declared the officers’ conduct “regrettable in public service” and stated that such behaviour was unacceptable from public servants. He ordered their immediate removal, with transfer orders issued within an hour.

Notably, Pramod Verma, who headed the SIT investigating Minister Vijay Shah’s controversial statement, has also been transferred – a move that adds political undertone to the administrative reshuffle.

CM’s Message: No Tolerance for Indiscipline

By taking direct action and publicly explaining the rationale, CM Dr Mohan Yadav has sent a clear message on discipline and accountability in public service, especially among senior law enforcement officers. His rapid response to the incidents reflects growing pressure on government functionaries to maintain professionalism in public and political settings.

Public Spat at Datia Airport Triggers Action
Sources reveal that a public argument broke out among Chambal IG Sushant Saxena, DIG Kumar Saurabh, and SP Datia Virendra Mishra at the Datia airport on May 31, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s virtual inauguration of the airport. The heated exchange, in full view of the public and officials, is said to have prompted swift disciplinary action.

In a separate case, SP Katni Abhijeet Ranjan was transferred over an alleged incident involving the manhandling of relatives of a Tehsildar and his CSP wife by local police.
