Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed fast-track implementation of investment projects in the science and technology sector, stating that Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a major technology hub. He emphasized that innovation, research, and digital development will play a key role in the state’s future economic growth.
The review meeting of the Department of Science and Technology was held at Samatva Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence in Bhopal.
Fast-Tracking Science and Technology Investments in Madhya Pradesh
CM Dr. Yadav instructed officials to ensure that all ongoing and proposed investment projects in the science and technology sector are implemented on a priority basis.
Key directions include:
- Rapid execution of investment projects in the tech sector
- Strengthening innovation and research ecosystem
- Increasing investor engagement and coordination
- Promoting startup culture and technological self-reliance
He said technology-driven growth will boost employment and industrial development in the state.
Gujarat-Style GIFT City Planned in Madhya Pradesh
A major announcement from the meeting was the development of a GIFT City-style hub in the state:
- A GIFT City-like project will be developed in Madhya Pradesh, modeled after Gujarat
- The project is planned in the Bhopal capital region
- It will be developed as an EKAI City (Education, Knowledge and AI City)
The initiative aims to create a modern ecosystem for education, research, artificial intelligence, and innovation.
₹400 Crore Centre of Excellence to Be Built in Ujjain
The state government also approved major innovation infrastructure in Ujjain:
- A Centre of Excellence (CoE) will be established in Ujjain
- Estimated investment: ₹400 crore
- It will integrate:
- Deep Tech Research Park
- Science and Engineering education ecosystem
- Coordination with the Central Government will be undertaken for implementation
This centre will strengthen higher education and advanced research in the region.
Madhya Pradesh Emerges as a Growing Tech Hub
Officials highlighted the state’s strong progress in the technology sector:
- 5 IT SEZs and 15+ IT parks
- Over 50 major IT companies operating
- More than 1,200 startups active in the tech ecosystem
- Over 300 technical colleges producing skilled graduates annually
- Presence of premier institutes like IITs, IIM, AIIMS, IIITDM
The state also follows 6 technology-related policies, including the MP Startup Policy 2022.
₹12,500 Crore Tech Investment and 50,000 Jobs Created
The government shared major investment achievements:
- ₹12,500 crore investment received in the technology sector
- Around 50,000 new jobs created
Additionally:
- Nearly ₹5,892 crore worth of mega projects are currently in the pipeline
- Focus areas include:
- AI and Quantum technology
- Semiconductors and electronics manufacturing (ESDM)
- Data centers
- Drone technology
- GCC and AVGC-XR industries
- Space technology
Strong Support for Investors and Industrial Development
The Industries Department informed that:
- 10 lakh square feet of land is available for investors
- Fast-track land allocation system for industries
- Support for startups under MSME and Startup Mission
- Incentives include capital investment support and interest subsidies
This is expected to further boost investor confidence in the state.
International Academic Collaboration and Research Expansion
The state is also expanding global academic partnerships:
- Four universities from the United States are interested in setting up campuses in Madhya Pradesh
- Proposal for Deep Tech Research Park sent to the Central Government
- Integration of research park into Ujjain CoE plan
These initiatives aim to strengthen global academic and research presence in the state.
Strengthening Technical Education Infrastructure
CM Dr. Yadav directed improvements in technical education institutions:
- Strengthening of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV)
- Recruitment to fill key manpower gaps in the department
- Better coordination between departments for technology-driven growth

Officials reiterated that Madhya Pradesh is becoming a leading technology destination in India due to:
- Strong policy support
- Growing startup ecosystem
- Expanding IT infrastructure
- Strategic investment promotion
