New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Varanasi, to provide four-month free, employment-oriented training to 120 unemployed and economically weaker youths from the Singrauli-Sonbhadra region.
The initiative is being implemented under NCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, with a particular focus on youths from project-affected families. The training is aimed at improving employability, promoting self-reliance and creating a pool of skilled workers in the region.
NCL to Provide Four-Month Employment-Oriented Training
Under the initiative, selected participants will undergo four months of skill-based training focused on operations in the plastic industry.
The programme will cover three specialised courses, with 40 trainees in each course:
- Plastic Manufacturing Machine Operation: 40 trainees
- Plastic Moulding Machine Operation: 40 trainees
- Plastic Recycling Machine Operation: 40 trainees
The training is designed to provide participants with practical machine-operation skills that can help them pursue employment opportunities in the plastic manufacturing and related sectors.

Training to Include Workplace Safety and Behavioural Skills
In addition to technical and machine-operation training, the programme will also focus on essential workplace knowledge.
Participants will receive training in:
- Workplace safety.
- Behavioural skills.
- Essential workplace practices.
- Technical skills related to plastic industry operations.
The combination of technical and workplace-oriented training is aimed at preparing participants for employment and improving their overall workplace readiness.
NCL Signs MoU with CIPET Varanasi
The MoU was signed by Rajiv Ranjan, General Manager (CSR), NCL, and Pranat Pal Dubey, Joint Director, CIPET, Varanasi.
Through the partnership, NCL and CIPET will work together to provide industry-oriented training to local youth and enhance their access to employment opportunities.
Focus on Youth Employment and Self-Reliance
The CSR initiative is particularly focused on unemployed and economically weaker youths, including those from project-affected families in the Singrauli-Sonbhadra region.
The programme aims to:
- Improve employment opportunities for local youth.
- Provide practical and industry-oriented skills.
- Promote self-reliance among participants.
- Strengthen workplace readiness.
- Develop a pool of skilled workers in the region.
The initiative is expected to support skill development and livelihood opportunities for young people in areas associated with NCL’s operations.
