New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd., has handed over Sakoli Power Transmission Limited, the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to successful bidder Ashoka Buildcon Ltd. for development of an intra-state power transmission project in Maharashtra.
The SPV was handed over on September 23, 2026, following Ashoka Buildcon’s selection through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, which acted as the Bid Process Coordinator for the project.
The transmission project, titled “Establishment of 400/220/132 kV AIS Sakoli (Dist. Bhandara)”, will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
RECPDCL Hands Over Sakoli Transmission SPV to Ashoka Buildcon
The formal handover of Sakoli Power Transmission Limited was carried out by Rajkumar Sonkar, HoD (CS), RECPDCL, to Mr. Rajendra Burad, COO, Ashoka Buildcon Ltd.
Senior officials from RECPDCL, Ashoka Buildcon Limited and Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd. were also present during the handover ceremony.
Ashoka Buildcon emerged as the successful bidder through the competitive bidding process conducted by RECPDCL for implementing the Maharashtra intra-state transmission project.

Sakoli Power Transmission Project in Maharashtra
The project involves the establishment of a 400/220/132 kV Air Insulated Substation (AIS) at Sakoli in Bhandara district of Maharashtra, along with associated transmission infrastructure.
The major components of the project include:
- 2 x 500 MVA, 400/220 kV ICTs
- 2 x 315 MVA, 400/132 kV ICTs
- 220 kV D/c transmission line from Sakoli to Bhandara
- 132 kV D/c transmission line from Sakoli to Deori and Moragaon Arjuni
- Other associated transmission works
The project is designed to strengthen the intra-state transmission network and support the transmission infrastructure requirements of the region.
Project to Be Developed on BOOT Basis
The Sakoli transmission project will be implemented on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
Under the project structure, the successful bidder will be responsible for developing and operating the transmission infrastructure in accordance with the applicable project requirements.
The scheduled implementation period is 24 months. The project will include the construction of the Sakoli substation, installation of transformers and development of associated transmission lines and other infrastructure required for the project.
RECPDCL Conducted Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding
RECPDCL acted as the Bid Process Coordinator for the selection of the developer through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.
Following the successful completion of the bidding process, Ashoka Buildcon Ltd. emerged as the successful bidder and will undertake the development of the Sakoli transmission project through the project-specific SPV.
The handover of Sakoli Power Transmission Limited marks the transition of the project towards its implementation phase.
