Consolidated Revenue Grows 23% to ₹4,716.75 Crore

At the consolidated level, NLC India recorded revenue from operations of ₹4,716.75 crore, marking a 23% year-on-year increase.

Profit before tax rose 10% to ₹651.55 crore.

However, consolidated net profit after non-controlling interest stood at ₹436.27 crore, lower than the previous year. The decline was attributed to a high base created by exceptional items recorded in Q1 FY2026.

Coal Production and Power Generation Increase

NLC India reported improved operational performance during the April-June quarter.

Operational Performance

  • Standalone coal production: 40.85 lakh tonnes, up 7.84% YoY
  • Standalone thermal power generation: 4,318.85 million units, up 8.27%
  • Group-level power generation: 8,262.06 million units, up 25%

The increase in group-level power generation reflects improved performance across NLC India’s mining, thermal power and renewable energy operations.

Ghatampur Thermal Power Project Fully Commissioned

A major operational milestone during the quarter was the commissioning of Unit-3 of Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL).

The 660 MW Unit-3 achieved commercial operation on June 13, 2026.

With the commissioning of the third unit, the entire 1,980 MW Ghatampur Thermal Power Project is now fully commissioned.

The completion marks an important milestone for NLC India’s power generation expansion.

Government’s 2.73% Stake Sale Receives Strong Response

NLC India also completed an Offer for Sale (OFS) of a 2.73% government stake during the quarter.

The institutional portion of the OFS was oversubscribed, with the Government mobilising approximately ₹1,260 crore while retaining its majority ownership in the company.

The successful OFS marks another important development for NLC India from a capital markets perspective.

₹1,453.69 Crore Provision Made Against BGRESL Advances

NLC India has made a full provision of ₹1,453.69 crore against advances recoverable from BGRESL in connection with the NUPPL project.

The company also continues to bill thermal power based on the 2019-24 tariff orders, pending final orders for the 2024-29 tariff period.

NLC India has also retained a regulatory deferral liability related to the ongoing VSVS dispute.

Mining, Thermal Power and Renewables Remain Key Segments

NLC India’s key business segments continued to contribute significantly to its overall performance during the quarter.

Major Business Segments

  • Mining
  • Thermal power generation
  • Renewable energy

The company’s diversified presence across mining, conventional power and renewables supports its overall operational and revenue growth.

NLC India Continues to Expand Power Generation

The strong growth in group-level power generation and the commissioning of the full Ghatampur project underline NLC India’s continued focus on increasing its power generation capacity.

The company is also expanding its renewable energy portfolio alongside its established mining and thermal power businesses, supporting its broader strategy of maintaining a diversified energy portfolio.
