Bhopal: In a significant push to strengthen religious tourism and cultural identity, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced the development of a grand spiritual project—‘Shri Parashurama–Shri Krishna Lok’—at Janapav (Janapav Kuti), near Indore. The project, estimated to cost over ₹17.50 crore, aims to transform the region, revered as the birthplace of Lord Parashurama, into a prominent pilgrimage and cultural destination with global recognition.
Mega Spiritual Project Announced at Janapav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav made the announcement on April 19 while addressing the auspicious Pragatotsav of Lord Shri Parashurama at Janapav Kuti. Emphasizing the state’s vision, he said the government is working to develop sites associated with the divine Leelas of Lord Shri Krishna into major pilgrimage centers.
He stated that the proposed ‘Shri Parashurama–Shri Krishna Lok’ will be developed as a magnificent and spiritually enriching destination, where visitors will not only learn about the lives and teachings of Lord Parashurama and Lord Krishna but also gain inspiration and spiritual merit.
Cultural and Spiritual Significance Highlighted
During the event, Dr. Yadav performed rituals and offered prayers for the prosperity of the state. He described Lord Parashurama as a symbol of faith, tradition, and Sanatan culture, whose life reflects courage, righteousness, and devotion across eras—from Satya Yuga to Treta Yuga.
“Lord Parashurama raised his voice against injustice in every age. He was equally adept in Shastra (weaponry) and Shastra (scriptures), making his life truly extraordinary,” the Chief Minister said.
He also referenced the connection between Lord Parashurama and Lord Rama, noting that even the bow associated with Lord Parashurama played a role in the marriage of Lord Rama, while highlighting the strength of women in ancient times through the example of Mother Janaki.
Lord Parashurama’s Influence on Great Warriors
The Chief Minister emphasized Lord Parashurama’s role as a Mahaguru, stating that he trained legendary warriors such as Bhishma Pitamah, Dronacharya, and Karna. He noted that Guru Dronacharya received knowledge of divine weapons, including the Brahmastra, from Lord Parashurama.
He further elaborated on Lord Parashurama’s influence during the era of Lord Krishna, stating that the Sudarshan Chakra wielded by Lord Krishna was bestowed upon him by Lord Parashurama. This divine weapon played a crucial role in enabling Lord Krishna to accomplish extraordinary feats, including retrieving the son of Maharishi Sandipani as Guru Dakshina.
Janapav: A Sacred Confluence of Spiritual Legacy
Highlighting the spiritual importance of Janapav, Dr. Yadav said the site holds immense significance as a place that shaped the life of Lord Krishna through the blessings of Lord Parashurama.
He described Janapav not just as a birthplace, but as a sacred destination where devotees arrive with faith and leave with divine blessings. He also emphasized the importance of invoking the divine feminine in Sanatan culture, stating that blessings are complete only when the name of the mother is remembered.
Focus on River Conservation and Infrastructure
The Chief Minister also underlined the geographical and ecological importance of the region, noting that Janapav is the origin of several rivers, including Chambal, Gambhir, Choral, Ajnar, Karam, Dhamni, Nakheri, and Sumra.
Calling rivers the “arteries of Mother Earth,” he urged the administration to prepare action plans for the rejuvenation of the Gambhir and Ajnar rivers. He also referenced major river-linking projects underway under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including the Ken-Betwa project and the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal scheme, which aim to enhance irrigation, drinking water supply, and power generation.
Sharp Political Remarks by CM
In a strong political statement, Dr. Mohan Yadav criticized the Congress party, accusing it of undermining the rights of women.
“The opposition has deprived half of the population of their rightful entitlements. The Almighty will not forgive them,” he said, adding that his government is committed to ensuring justice and empowerment for women.
