Patna: A double-decker bus ride along Patna’s JP Ganga Path is quickly becoming a popular attraction for both residents and tourists. More than 10,000 people have already experienced the service since it was launched last September, offering visitors a different way to explore the city alongside the Ganga.
Operated through the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC), the service combines sightseeing with a relaxed evening journey along one of Patna’s prominent riverfront stretches.
A Panoramic Ride Along the Ganga
The double-decker bus operates between Digha Ghat and Kangan Ghat. The upper deck gives passengers a wide, 360-degree view of the Ganga and the Patna skyline, making it one of the main attractions of the service.
During the journey, passengers can see several important landmarks, including Golambar, Sabhyata Dwar, Darbhanga House, Gandhi Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi Setu, Chitragupt Temple and Kangan Ghat.
The route offers a mix of river views, city landmarks and evening scenery, making the ride more than just a mode of transport. For tourists, it provides an opportunity to see several prominent locations in a single trip, while local residents can experience familiar parts of the city from a different perspective.

40-Seat Bus With Facilities for Visitors
The bus has a total seating capacity of 40 passengers. The lower deck has 20 air-conditioned seats, while another 20 seats are available on the upper deck.
Passenger facilities include a toilet and refrigerator, while a guide is also available to provide information during the sightseeing journey.
The combination of open panoramic views from the upper deck and basic onboard facilities is designed to make the experience comfortable for families, tourists and groups.
Ticket Starts at Just ₹50
The double-decker bus has been positioned as an affordable tourism experience.
A one-way journey costs ₹50 per person, while passengers can take a round trip for ₹100 per person.
The bus currently operates in the evening, from 5 pm to 10 pm, allowing passengers to enjoy the Ganga Path and Patna’s landmarks during the evening hours.
For visitors, the timing also provides an opportunity to experience the city as daylight fades and the riverfront takes on a different appearance.
A New Option for Birthdays and Special Occasions
The service has now been expanded beyond regular sightseeing. The tourism corporation has also introduced an option to book the double-decker bus for special occasions such as birthdays.
The booking cost is ₹4,000 per trip.
This gives families and groups an additional way to celebrate special moments while travelling along Ganga Path. Instead of holding a celebration at a conventional venue, people can now combine a private gathering with a sightseeing journey along the riverfront.
The option could also make the bus useful for small family gatherings and other personal occasions.
Tourism Experience Along Ganga Path
The growing response to the double-decker bus highlights the potential of Ganga Path as a tourism and leisure destination in Patna.
With more than 10,000 people already using the service, the ride has emerged as an accessible tourism activity for residents as well as visitors to the city. Its relatively low ticket price also makes the experience accessible to a wider range of people.
