Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has approved investments for two major transmission projects to enhance India’s power grid infrastructure. The approvals were granted by the company’s Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects.
The first project, “Transmission scheme for evacuation of power from Ratle HEP (850 MW) & Kiru HEP (624 MW): Part B,” has an estimated cost of ₹177.38 crore for Part I and ₹41.17 crore for Part II. It is set for commissioning by July 14, 2026, or in sync with Part A. This project will ensure seamless power evacuation from hydroelectric plants.
The second project focuses on “Augmentation of transformation capacity at Tumkur (Pavagada) 400/220kV Pooling Station in Karnataka.” Costing ₹123.02 crore, it aims to boost transmission capacity for renewable energy integration and is expected to be completed by May 20, 2026.
These initiatives reinforce Power Grid’s commitment to strengthening India’s power transmission network, aligning with government efforts to support renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure development.
