Gurugram: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has been awarded the prestigious Green World Award 2026 in the “Climate Change” category.

The award was presented at a ceremony held at Cardiff Castle, Wales, United Kingdom, recognizing POWERGRID’s consistent efforts in environmental sustainability and climate-responsive operations.

The award was received by Mr. Vipul Singh, Sr. DGM (CSR), and Mr. Manu Sinha, DGM (CSR) on behalf of the organisation.

Recognition for Climate Action and Sustainability Efforts

The Green World Award acknowledges organisations that demonstrate measurable progress in environmental protection, carbon reduction, and sustainable development practices.

POWERGRID was recognized for its initiatives focused on:

  • Energy-efficient transmission infrastructure

This recognition highlights the company’s commitment to reducing environmental impact while expanding India’s power transmission network.

Strong National Transmission Network Backed by Technology

As of 31 March 2026, POWERGRID has achieved significant operational scale, including:

  • 291 substations
  • Over 1,84,960 circuit km of transmission lines
  • 6,24,016 MVA of transformation capacity

The company has also maintained an average transmission system availability of more than 99.84%, supported by advanced automation and digital technologies.
