Hailing from Madurai, Tamil Nadu

Rajeshwari Suve M belongs to Vadipatti in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. Her achievement has brought pride not only to her family but also to her hometown and the state.

She grew up in an academically inclined environment where education and discipline were highly valued. Her father runs a small business related to two-wheeler spare parts and also works as an insurance advisor. Her mother is an associate professor at a government institution.

The atmosphere at home often revolved around discussions about education, academics, and social issues, which gradually influenced Rajeshwari’s interest in public service.

Strong Academic Foundation and Engineering Background

Rajeshwari completed her schooling under the Tamil Nadu State Board. She built a strong academic foundation during her early years, which later helped her in competitive examinations.

After completing school, she moved to Chennai to pursue higher education. She graduated in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Vel Tech Multi Tech Engineering College, affiliated with Anna University, in 2018.

Her engineering education played an important role in shaping her analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. These skills proved extremely valuable during her preparation for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

Clearing TNPSC and Becoming Deputy Collector

Before achieving success in the UPSC examination, Rajeshwari had already entered government service. She cleared the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Group I examination and was selected as a Deputy Collector.

At the time of preparing for UPSC CSE 2025, she was serving as a Deputy Collector (Training) at the District Collector’s Office in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.

This administrative experience gave her practical exposure to governance, government schemes, and public service. Working at the district level helped her understand the implementation of policies and the challenges faced by citizens, which further strengthened her preparation.

UPSC Journey: Learning Through Multiple Attempts

Rajeshwari’s journey to success was not easy. Like many UPSC aspirants, she faced several challenges and setbacks along the way.

She appeared in the UPSC preliminary examination multiple times and cleared it successfully on her fifth attempt. Each attempt brought new lessons and helped her refine her preparation strategy.

Over time, she improved her answer-writing skills, strengthened her conceptual clarity, and learned effective time management during the examination. These improvements ultimately helped her secure an outstanding rank in the 2025 examination.

Her perseverance paid off when the UPSC CSE 2025 results were declared and she secured the prestigious AIR 2.

Optional Subject: Sociology

For the UPSC Civil Services Main Examination, Rajeshwari chose Sociology as her optional subject.

The subject helped her develop a deeper understanding of social structures, inequality, institutions, and governance systems. This perspective also helped her connect academic concepts with real-world social issues.

Such insights are often crucial for policymakers and administrators who deal with complex societal challenges.

Passion for IPS and Uniformed Service

Interestingly, despite securing one of the top ranks in the UPSC examination, Rajeshwari has expressed her aspiration to join the Indian Police Service (IPS) rather than the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Her passion for uniformed service began during her college days when she was an NCC cadet. The experience sparked her interest in disciplined and uniformed services.

She has stated that wearing the uniform and serving the country through law enforcement has been a long-standing dream.
