The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, with Dr Anuj Agnihotri securing All India Rank (AIR) 1.

Hailing from Rawatbhata in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district, Agnihotri achieved the top rank in one of India’s most competitive examinations. The final results were released on the official UPSC websites upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in, bringing an end to a rigorous selection process that included the preliminary examination, mains examination, and personality test.

Agnihotri’s remarkable achievement has brought pride to his hometown and inspired thousands of civil services aspirants across the country.

From AIIMS Doctor to UPSC Topper

Before entering the civil services arena, Anuj Agnihotri built a strong academic career in medicine. He completed his MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur in 2023, one of the country’s premier medical institutions.

Despite having promising prospects in the medical field, Dr Anuj decided to pursue a career in public administration. His transition from medicine to civil services reflects his determination to serve society on a broader administrative platform.

This was not his first success in the UPSC examination. Dr. Anuj had earlier cleared the exam twice. In his first attempt in UPSC 2023, he was allotted the DANICS service (Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service) and was posted as an SDM in Delhi.

He completed his MBBS from AIIMS Jodhpur in 2023. He had earlier secured All India Rank 215 in the AIIMS medical entrance examination.

His father, K.B. Agnihotri, works at Units 1 and 2 of the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station, while his mother, Manju Agnihotri, is a homemaker.

Early Life and Education

He originally belongs to Rawatbhata, a town in Rajasthan known for housing a major nuclear power plant. His father works as an employee at the Nuclear Power Plant in Rawatbhata.

He completed his Class 10 education from Atomic Energy Central School, where he built a strong academic foundation. He later pursued Class 12 from M.B. Public Senior Secondary School in Kota, a city widely recognized as an educational hub.

After finishing school, he cleared the entrance examination for medical studies and joined AIIMS Jodhpur, where he successfully completed his MBBS degree.

Third Attempt Success

He cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in his third attempt. Speaking shortly after the results were declared, he said he was still processing the news.

At the time of the result announcement, Agnihotri was serving as a probationer in the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Services (DANICS), a Group-B administrative service under the central government.

“I was informed about the result just now. I graduated from AIIMS Jodhpur in 2023 and am currently a probationer in the DANICS service,” he said after the results were announced.

UPSC CSE 2025 Selection Process

The Civil Services Examination is widely regarded as one of the toughest competitive exams in India.

The UPSC CSE 2025 selection process involved multiple stages:

• Preliminary Examination: May 25, 2025

• Main Examination: August 22–31, 2025

• Personality Test (Interview): January 5 – February 27, 2026

After completing these stages, UPSC released the final merit list recommending 958 candidates for appointment to various civil services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Other Top Rank Holders

In the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025, the top three rank holders are:

1 Anuj Agnihotri – AIR 1

2 Rajeshwari Suve M – AIR 2

Their achievements highlight the intense competition and high standards required to succeed in the examination.

His success story is expected to inspire thousands of aspirants preparing for the civil services, reinforcing the idea that with determination and consistent effort, even the most challenging goals can be achieved.
