RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna, the petitioner in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam case, has lodged a complaint against three IPS officers on March 13, 2025, alleging that they submitted false reports to shield the accused.

Krishna claims that despite substantial evidence in the MUDA case, an investigation officer, along with two other IPS officials, attempted to cover up allegations by filing misleading reports. In response, he has filed a complaint with the Central Vigilance Commission against them.
Previously, Mr. Krishna filed a writ appeal in the High Court’s divisional bench, urging a CBI investigation into the scam. He challenged a single bench order that had declined permission for a CBI probe into the 50:50 site scheme, which allegedly involves Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family members.
Mr. Krishna has argued that he has no confidence in an inquiry by the Lokayukta, as it functions under the state government. However, the single bench court dismissed his petition.
What is the MUDA Scam?
The controversy revolves around irregularities in compensatory site allotments. At the center of the scam is a 3.2-acre land parcel, gifted in 2010 to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, by her brother, Mallikarjunaswamy.
Following the acquisition of this land by MUDA, Parvathi sought compensation and was allocated 14 plots, allegedly far more valuable than the original land.
Opposition parties claim that the scam’s total value could range between Rs. 3,000 crore to Rs. 4,000 crore.
With this case, CM Siddaramaiah, aged 76, becomes the second Karnataka CM to face prosecution while in office, after BJP’s B.S. Yediyurappa in 2011.
