New Delhi: The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) has officially recommended S. Usha for the important role of Director (Market Operation) at the Grid Controller of India Limited (Grid-India), a Schedule A public sector enterprise. The decision was made during PESB’s 96th meeting held on Thursday morning.
Strong Competition Among Senior Executives
Usha’s selection followed a rigorous interview process involving ten other distinguished applicants from prominent organizations such as Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, NTPC Limited, Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), and Solar Energy Corporation of India. All candidates were evaluated for their expertise and suitability to steer the market operations division of Grid-India.
Currently serving as the Executive Director of the National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) under Grid-India in New Delhi, S Usha has the distinction of being the first woman to lead NLDC as its head, marking a historic milestone in the power sector.

With over 30 years of experience in power system operations and electricity market management, Usha brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role. Her expertise spans critical regions such as the Southern and Western Regional Load Despatch Centres, where she has driven numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and market integration.
Usha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Calicut University. Known for her visionary leadership and dynamic approach, she has consistently set new standards of excellence in the electricity sector.

As the Director (Market Operation), Usha will oversee critical functions related to electricity market operations, ensuring smooth coordination between various regional load despatch centres and market participants.
