Rourkela: Ispat General Hospital (IGH), Rourkela, a healthcare facility under SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ESIC Regional Office, Bhubaneswar, to provide cashless healthcare services to eligible ESIC beneficiaries and their dependents.

The agreement was signed on September 3, 2026, and will benefit ESIC beneficiaries from Odisha as well as eligible beneficiaries from other states through ESIC Bhubaneswar. The partnership is expected to improve access to specialised and advanced healthcare services in Rourkela and surrounding areas.

ESIC Beneficiaries to Get Cashless Healthcare at IGH

Under the MoU, eligible ESIC beneficiaries and their dependents will be able to access a broad range of healthcare services at IGH through a cashless arrangement.

The services covered include:

  • Outpatient Department (OPD) treatment
  • Inpatient Department (IPD) treatment
  • Diagnostic and laboratory services
  • Emergency medical care
  • Surgical procedures
  • Specialised healthcare services
  • Super-speciality treatment

The arrangement will allow beneficiaries to make use of IGH’s existing medical infrastructure and clinical expertise without having to bear the treatment costs covered under the agreement.

Super-Speciality Services Included Under MoU

A key feature of the partnership is the availability of specialised and super-speciality healthcare services at IGH.

The covered areas include:

  • Neurology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Burn and Plastic Surgery
  • Nephrology and Dialysis
  • Medical Gastroenterology

The inclusion of these advanced medical services is expected to provide ESIC beneficiaries with greater access to specialised treatment closer to home.

MoU Expected to Benefit Rourkela and Nearby Areas

The partnership is expected to provide significant relief to ESIC beneficiaries living in Rourkela and surrounding areas by improving access to quality and affordable healthcare services.

For patients requiring advanced or super-speciality treatment, the availability of these services at IGH could reduce dependence on distant medical centres.

The agreement will also enable wider utilisation of IGH’s:

  • Specialist medical expertise
  • Advanced healthcare infrastructure
  • Diagnostic facilities
  • Surgical capabilities
  • Super-speciality services

This could further strengthen IGH’s role as an important regional healthcare institution.

IGH-ESIC MoU Signed by Senior Officials

The MoU was signed by Rudradeep Dutta, Regional Director, ESIC Bhubaneswar, and Dr. Jayant Kumar Acharya, CMO I/c (M&HS), Rourkela Steel Plant.

The signing ceremony was also attended by:

  • Dr. Ava Tirkey, State Medical Officer, ESIC Regional Office, Bhubaneswar
  • G.R. Dash, General Manager (HR), Rourkela Steel Plant

The collaboration is expected to strengthen coordination between ESIC and IGH and expand healthcare access for eligible beneficiaries.

Partnership to Strengthen Access to Advanced Healthcare

The IGH-ESIC partnership combines ESIC’s beneficiary network with the medical facilities and expertise available at SAIL’s IGH.

By bringing cashless specialised and super-speciality services under the arrangement, the MoU is expected to support more convenient and accessible healthcare for ESIC beneficiaries and their dependents.
