New Delhi: Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav interacted with schoolchildren in New Delhi on September 17 as part of Sewa Diwas under the ‘Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan – Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), brought together school students, teachers, eco-club members, government officials and local communities.
Environment Takes Centre Stage at Sewa Diwas
The programme included activities aimed at encouraging awareness about forests, wildlife, nature and environmental conservation among participants, particularly school students.

Highlights of the programme included:
- An interaction between Bhupender Yadav and schoolchildren
- An environment-themed song presented by students
- A large rangoli incorporating diyas
- An exhibition of paintings created by schoolchildren
- Participation of eco-club members, teachers and local communities
The rangoli with diyas was presented as a representation of knowledge, hope, service and environmental responsibility.
Schoolchildren Showcase Environment-Themed Artwork
Yadav also reviewed an exhibition featuring selected paintings made by schoolchildren. The artworks focused on themes related to the environment, forests, wildlife and nature.
The programme was organised as part of the ministry’s activities marking 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service, according to the PIB release.
The event was attended by Gajender Yadav, MLA from Mehrauli; Tanmay Kumar, Secretary, MoEFCC; Sushil Kumar Awasthi, Director General of Forests and Special Secretary, MoEFCC; and senior ministry officials.
Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan
The Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan is a month-long campaign being observed from September 17 to October 17, 2026, in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday and 25 years of his public life. The campaign includes activities such as public-service initiatives, welfare outreach and community programmes across different states. The ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ is among the activities being organised under the campaign.
