Underground Electricity Cables for Safer Infrastructure
Work has begun to shift overhead electricity conductors to underground cables in AF Block and along the main road of C&D Block in Shalimar Bagh.
The project will modernise the local electricity network while improving safety and reducing overhead wiring along residential and road corridors.
New Road to Improve Pitampura Connectivity
A new road linking Shri Guru Gobind Singh College with Ring Road in Pitampura has also been taken up at an estimated cost of around ₹2.84 crore.
The road is intended to improve local connectivity and make daily commuting easier for residents and other road users.
Sanitation and Waste Management Upgraded
The development package also includes improvements to basic civic services.
A newly constructed toilet block at Nehru Camp in Haiderpur has been inaugurated. In Pitampura, a modern waste compactor at SP-TP Block has also been launched to support better waste management and cleaner surroundings.
23 Parks to Receive Development Works
Public green spaces are another focus of the initiative. Beautification and development works are being taken up in three parks in YP Block, 10 parks in WP Block and 10 parks in C&D Block.
The works are aimed at creating cleaner and better-maintained recreational spaces for residents.
Shalimar Bagh to Be Developed as Model Constituency
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government is working to develop the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency as a model constituency, with better sanitation, public amenities, accessible healthcare and stronger urban infrastructure.
The projects bring several everyday services under one development push—from schools and roads to electricity, sanitation, waste management and parks. For residents, these improvements can directly affect daily commuting, access to public facilities and the quality of neighbourhood spaces.
The initiative reflects a broader focus on strengthening local urban infrastructure and improving civic amenities at the neighbourhood level.
