Durga Puja Brings Themed Pandals Across West Bengal
Durga Puja is one of West Bengal’s most prominent annual festivals, combining religious ceremonies with artistic installations, cultural performances and community celebrations.
Puja committees across the state often develop distinctive themes for their pandals, using architecture, decorative materials and idol designs to create individual attractions.
The Central Colony installation adds a gold-themed presentation to Siliguri’s festive landscape this year. With its ornamented idols and specially designed mandap, the pandal is drawing devotees interested in both the religious observance and the craftsmanship behind the display.
The festival commemorates Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura and is celebrated through prayers, rituals and public gatherings. In Siliguri, the Central Colony committee’s 64th annual celebration combines these traditions with an unusually large gold-ornament display.
