Shimla: As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026, SJVN Limited organised ‘Swachhata League’, a volleyball tournament-cum-zero-waste awareness event, at Police Ground, Junga, Shimla.
The initiative aimed to promote community participation, responsible waste management and environmental sustainability through sports and public engagement.
SJVN Organises Swachhata League in Junga
The event brought together local communities and Panchayat teams from the Junga, Theog and Mashobra areas.
The programme focused on spreading awareness about responsible waste management while encouraging people to actively participate in environmental sustainability initiatives.
Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN, attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Padma awardee Nek Ram Sharma was the Guest of Honour.

SJVN Director (Personnel) Highlights Community Responsibility
Addressing the gathering, Ajay Kumar Sharma said that maintaining healthy and sustainable surroundings is a shared responsibility that requires active participation from all sections of society.
He appreciated the participation of the Panchayat teams and called for continued community engagement to strengthen environmental initiatives.

Eight Teams Participate in Volleyball Tournament
The Swachhata League witnessed enthusiastic participation from eight teams representing Panchayats from the Junga, Theog and Mashobra areas.
The tournament results were:
- Winner: Friends Sports Club, Fagu
- Runner-up: Co-XI, 1st Battalion, Junga
- Participating teams: Eight teams from Panchayat areas of Junga, Theog and Mashobra
The sporting event provided a platform for local communities to come together while promoting the message of cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
SJVN Promotes Zero-Waste Practices Through Community Engagement
The event reinforced SJVN’s focus on zero-waste practices, community participation and sustainable development.
By combining sports with environmental awareness, the initiative encouraged local residents to participate in sustainability efforts and adopt responsible waste management practices.
