Tamil Nadu Transfers Over 10 IAS Officers; New Secretaries Appointed for Key Departments, K. S. Palanisamy Appointed Revenue Secretary

Chennai: The Government of Tamil Nadu, led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, on Monday carried out another major bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring and posting more than 10 senior IAS officers to key departments.

The latest round of transfers is part of the state government’s ongoing administrative reorganization aimed at strengthening governance and improving coordination across crucial sectors such as municipal administration, water resources, energy, transport, rural development, and public works.

Gagandeep Singh Bedi Appointed Additional Chief Secretary, MAWS Department

Senior IAS officer Gagandeep Singh Bedi has been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary to the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department, one of the most important departments responsible for urban governance and water management in the state.

Key IAS Appointments in the Reshuffle

The government also announced several other important postings:

  • P. Amudha — Secretary, Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection Department
  • Satyabrata Sahoo — Secretary, Water Resources Department
  • Shuchonngam Jatak Chiru — Secretary, Public Works Department
  • Anil Meshram — Secretary, Energy Department
  • M. Vallalar — Secretary, Transport Department
  • K. S. Palanisamy — Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department
  • V. Dakshinamoorthy — Secretary, Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department
  • Sajjansingh R. Chavan — Secretary, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department
  • Prashant M. Wadnere — Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department
  • G. K. Arun Sundar Thayalan — Inspector General of Registration
  • G. Lakshmipathy — Joint Secretary, Finance Department
  • T. Anand — Placed at the disposal of the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board for appointment as Managing Director

Administrative Restructuring Continues in Tamil Nadu

The reshuffle follows a series of recent transfers undertaken by the Tamil Nadu government as part of a broader effort to align senior bureaucrats with priority sectors and flagship initiatives.

Officials said the latest changes are intended to improve administrative efficiency, strengthen policy implementation, and accelerate delivery of public services across departments.

Focus on Infrastructure, Urban Governance and Rural Development

The departments affected by the reshuffle play a central role in the state’s development agenda, including:

  • Urban infrastructure and water supply
  • Energy and power sector reforms
  • Public works and irrigation
  • Rural development and local governance
  • Food and consumer protection
  • Disaster management
  • Youth welfare and sports

The appointment of experienced officers to these departments is expected to help the government fast-track major projects and improve service delivery.
