Agartala: The Tripura Human Rights Commission has sought a detailed report from the Director General of Police (DGP), Tripura, over serious allegations of sexual misconduct against a senior police officer holding the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP).
Taking suo motu cognisance of media reports, the Commission observed that allegations involving a senior police officer could adversely affect public confidence in the police administration and warranted immediate examination.
Allegations Against SP-Rank Officer
According to media reports cited in the Commission’s order, the accused is a 2010-batch Tripura Police Service (TPS) officer who is currently serving in the rank of SP.
The reports alleged that the officer absconded after allegedly attempting to establish an inappropriate sexual relationship with a fellow woman police officer.
It was further alleged that the officer entered the woman officer’s residential quarter and physically touched her after her husband had left the residence, allegedly outraging her modesty.

Incident Reportedly Took Place in Police Residential Quarters
The alleged incident is said to have occurred inside police residential quarters while the accused officer was on leave.
According to the reports, the woman officer raised an alarm, prompting nearby residents to rush to the spot. The accused officer then allegedly fled the premises.
Human Rights Commission Directs DGP to Submit Detailed Report
In its order, the Commission directed the DGP, Tripura, to furnish a comprehensive report on the matter.
Relevant newspaper clippings and a copy of the Commission’s order have also been forwarded to the police chief for necessary examination and appropriate action.
Matter Listed for Hearing on June 11, 2026
The case has been scheduled for further hearing on June 11, 2026, by which time the Tripura Police is expected to submit its report.
The Commission’s intervention underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in handling allegations involving senior police officers.
