UPSC Opens Recruitment for 47 Group A & B Posts Across Ministries; Apply by July 31

The UPSC has invited online applications for 47 Group A and Group B Gazetted posts across central ministries under Advertisement No. 08/2026. The recruitment covers medical, legal, scientific and enforcement positions, with applications closing on July 31, 2026.

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has launched a major recruitment drive for 47 Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ Gazetted posts across several central ministries and departments. Issued under Advertisement No. 08/2026, the recruitment offers opportunities in healthcare, law, forensic science, agriculture and public administration, with online applications being accepted through the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) portal.

The online registration process commenced on July 11, 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications until 6:00 PM on July 31, 2026.

Healthcare Sector Gets the Biggest Share of Vacancies

The largest share of vacancies has been announced by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, which is seeking to fill 37 Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor positions across premier medical institutions in Delhi.

The vacancies are spread across highly specialised medical disciplines as follows:

  • Neonatology: 13 posts
  • Endocrinology: 10 posts
  • Clinical Hematology: 9 posts
  • Nuclear Medicine: 3 posts
  • Pulmonary Medicine: 3 posts
  • Paediatric Cardiology: 1 post
  • Surgical Gastroenterology: 1 post

These posts are intended to strengthen medical education, specialist healthcare services and faculty strength at government medical institutions.

Vacancies Across Legal, Scientific and Enforcement Departments

Besides healthcare, UPSC has advertised several important posts across different ministries and departments.

Among the prominent vacancies are:

  • Assistant Soil Chemist under the Ministry of Agriculture.
  • Superintendent (Legal) in the Ministry of Law & Justice.
  • Prosecutor in the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).
  • Junior Scientific Officer (Toxicology) in the Central Forensic Science Laboratory.
  • Deputy Assistant Director (Entomology).
  • Entomologist.
  • Positions under the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control.

These appointments span legal administration, scientific research, forensic investigation, agriculture and public health, reflecting the diverse nature of the recruitment exercise.

Posts Offered Under Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ Services

The recruitment covers prestigious Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ Gazetted posts under the Central Government.

Selected candidates will be placed under the 7th Central Pay Commission pay structure. The pay levels vary according to the post:

  • Level 11: Specialist Grade III Assistant Professors, along with Non-Practising Allowance (NPA). Private medical practice will not be permitted.
  • Level 10: Scientific and entomology-related positions.
  • Levels 8 and 7: Legal, prosecution and forensic science posts.

Eligibility Criteria Vary by Post

UPSC has clarified that educational qualifications, professional experience, age limits and reservation provisions differ for each post.

Depending on the position, the upper age limit ranges between 30, 35 and 40 years. Age relaxation will be available in accordance with Government of India norms for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). PwBD candidates are eligible for an age relaxation of up to 10 years, wherever applicable.

Candidates are advised to carefully read the detailed notification before applying.

Online Application Through ORA Portal

The Commission has streamlined the recruitment process through its Online Recruitment Application (ORA) portal, eliminating the need for physical submission of forms.

Applicants must first complete registration on the portal to obtain a Universal Registration Number (URN) before proceeding with the application.

The online application process includes enhanced identity verification measures, including a mandatory live photograph capture through a webcam.

Candidates are also required to upload:

  • Signature (signed three times vertically on plain white paper).
  • Educational qualification certificates.
  • Matriculation certificate for proof of age.
  • Experience certificates, wherever applicable.
  • Other supporting documents prescribed for the respective post.

Application Fee

The application fee has been fixed at ₹25 for male candidates belonging to the General, OBC and EWS categories.

However, female candidates and applicants belonging to SC, ST and PwBD categories are fully exempted from payment of the application fee.

How to Apply

Eligible candidates can submit their applications by following these steps:

  • Visit the UPSC Online Recruitment Application (ORA) portal.
  • Register and generate the Universal Registration Number (URN).
  • Select Advertisement No. 08/2026.
  • Fill in the online application form.
  • Upload the required documents and live photograph.
  • Pay the application fee, if applicable.
  • Submit the application and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Helpdesk for Applicants

UPSC has established a dedicated helpdesk to assist candidates facing technical issues related to registration, fee payment or document uploads.

Applicants can contact the Commission’s helpline during working days between 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM or send queries via the official email support.

The Commission has advised candidates not to wait until the final day to submit applications in order to avoid last-minute technical issues. The online application window will close at 6:00 PM on July 31, 2026, and no modifications or withdrawals will be permitted after final submission.
