Surat: The two-day Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference – South Gujarat (VGRC) concluded at Auro University with a significant boost to the state’s industrial landscape, as 2,792 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹3,53,306 crore were signed.
The announcement was made by Harsh Sanghavi, who termed the conference a historic step toward accelerating industrial growth and employment generation in the region.
2.82 Lakh Employment Opportunities Expected
Highlighting the impact of these investment commitments, Harsh Sanghavi stated that the implementation of projects under these MoUs over the next three years is expected to generate direct employment for more than 2.82 lakh youthin South Gujarat.
He emphasised that the government’s vision is to ensure that economic growth translates into tangible employment opportunities at the grassroots level.

Union Minister JP Nadda Praises Gujarat’s Economic Strength
Addressing the closing session, J. P. Nadda lauded Gujarat’s robust economic performance, stating that the state contributes 8% to India’s GDP, 17% to manufacturing output, 27% to merchandise exports, and 40% to total cargo handling.
He remarked that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, Gujarat has evolved into a globally connected economic engine and a reliable destination for investment.
Surat–Bharuch Belt Emerges as Manufacturing Hub
J. P. Nadda highlighted the industrial strengths of South Gujarat, noting that:
- Surat’s diamond and textile industries
- Bharuch–Dahej–Ankleshwar’s chemical and fertilizer sectors
have emerged as key global hubs. He also underlined the growing integration of the garment sector with tribal regions, creating new development opportunities.

‘Vibrant Gujarat’ Model of Dialogue and Growth
Recalling the origins of the initiative, Narendra Modi, as Chief Minister in 2003, launched the Vibrant Gujarat Summit to bridge the gap between industry and government.
This initiative has since evolved into a model of collaboration and has contributed to Gujarat’s transformation into a major industrial powerhouse.
Focus on Tribal Employment and Non-Polluting Industries
Harsh Sanghavi announced that the government is promoting non-polluting industries and the garment sector in tribal districts such as Dang, Tapi, Valsad, and Navsari.
This initiative is expected to generate over 25,000 work-from-home employment opportunities for women in these regions within the next two years.

‘Open Door Meetings’ for Industrialists
In a major governance reform, the Deputy Chief Minister announced the introduction of ‘Open Door Meetings’ during future regional conferences. These sessions will allow industrialists to resolve issues on the spot through direct engagement with responsible government officials.
Push for Faster Clearances and Investor Support
The government is also accelerating approval processes, with daily clearance of applications increasing from 199 to nearly double, and expected to exceed 500 in the near future.
Reassuring investors, Harsh Sanghavi urged them to move forward with confidence, stating that the government will provide full support in connecting with global buyers and facilitating business growth.

Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma noted that since its inception in 2003, the Vibrant Gujarat initiative has become synonymous with talent, technology, and transparency, playing a crucial role in the state’s sustained industrial development.

Platform for Entrepreneurs and Industry Collaboration
Additional Chief Secretary of Industries and Mines, Mamta Verma, highlighted that the conference successfully brought together entrepreneurs through initiatives such as:
- B2B and B2G meetings
- Reverse buyer-seller interactions
- Sectoral seminars
These platforms provided valuable direction, especially to young entrepreneurs.
Awards and Recognition
During the event:
- Best MSE and MSME Awards were presented across multiple categories
- Artisans and contributors from the industries department were felicitated
- The management of Auro University was honored
A special souvenir showcasing South Gujarat’s industrial potential and the VGRC vision was also unveiled.
