The Centre has approved the premature repatriation of Vidya Jayant Kulkarni, a senior IPS officer of the 1998 Tamil Nadu cadre, from her post as Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to her parent cadre on personal grounds.
The decision was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) following a proposal from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
According to the order, the repatriation comes with the imposition of an extended cooling-off condition under the IPS Tenure Policy.

SENIOR IPS OFFICER
Kulkarni, who joined the IPS in December 1998, has been serving on central deputation since December 2021 at Pay Level 14.
Originally from Maharashtra, she holds degrees in B.E. and M.A. and was awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2015.
She has nearly 28 years of service experience across state and central assignments.
