Nagpur: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a Miniratna subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has achieved a landmark milestone with the inauguration of Coal India’s first fully equipped multimedia studio at its headquarters. The initiative marks a major step toward strengthening digital communication, transparency, and innovation within the coal sector.
Multimedia Studio Inaugurated by WCL Leadership
The advanced multimedia facility was inaugurated by WCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Mr. J. P. Dwivedi, in the presence of Director (HR) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey, Chief Vigilance Officer Mr. Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, and several senior officials.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dwivedi emphasized that the studio is more than just new infrastructure—it is a transformative communication platform that will elevate WCL’s storytelling, digital outreach, and strategic messaging.
He added, “Communication is the bridge that connects our workforce, achievements, and vision to the world. This initiative will significantly contribute to the government’s goal of digital self-reliance in stakeholder communication.”

Director (HR) Dr. Pandey stated that the studio will act as a creative hub for producing high-quality social media and internal communication content.

According to Dr. Pandey, the platform will enhance knowledge sharing, boost employee engagement, and strengthen WCL’s visibility across digital channels.

Chief Vigilance Officer Mr. Mhetre highlighted that the multimedia studio will also play a key role in reinforcing organizational transparency and ethical governance.
It will support the creation of digital content and awareness campaigns focused on:

The innovative format is expected to make vigilance messages more relatable and engaging for employees and stakeholders.

During the event, Mr. Ashish Tayal, Senior Manager (Public Relations), received a personal appreciation letter from former Coal India Chairman Mr. P. M. Prasad.
