Mau (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday visited Mau, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 114 development projects worth ₹392 crore. The event was held at Gandhi Maidan in Madhuban, marking a major push for infrastructure and public welfare development in the region.
During the programme, the Chief Minister also targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP), referring to the 2005 Mau riots and the law-and-order situation during that period.
114 Projects Worth ₹392 Crore Inaugurated and Launched
CM Yogi Adityanath dedicated 114 development projects covering roads, infrastructure, and public welfare schemes.
Key highlights include:
- Road and infrastructure development projects
- Public welfare initiatives
- Strengthening of basic civic facilities
The total investment of these projects is estimated at ₹392 crore.
He stated that the government is continuously working for the development of Purvanchal, aiming to give Mau a new identity through improved infrastructure and connectivity.

CM Yogi Targets Samajwadi Party Over 2005 Mau Riots
Addressing the public gathering, CM Yogi launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party, recalling the 2005 Mau riots.
He said that during that period:
- Law and order had collapsed
- Women and girls were unsafe on the streets
- Criminal elements operated freely
The Chief Minister claimed that his government has since restored law and order and established a system where criminals are not tolerated.
“Zero Tolerance Policy” on Crime and Lawlessness
CM Yogi reiterated that the state government follows a zero-tolerance policy against crime and disorder.
He said:
- No disruption in religious events will be allowed
- Strict action is being taken against anti-social elements
- Festivals and public events are now conducted peacefully
He added that the government will not compromise on the safety and security of citizens.

Development Push for Purvanchal Region
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is committed to the development of:
- Villages
- Farmers
- Youth
- Women
He said Mau is being developed as part of a broader plan to accelerate growth in Purvanchal and improve living standards in the region.

Ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit, several opposition leaders were placed under house arrest as a precautionary measure.
