‘Fitcop’ To Ensure Healthy Hyderabad Cops

Hyderabad Police Commissioner, IPS C.V. Anand, has launched a ‘Fitcop App’ to monitor and improve health of police personnel. He collaborated with the Helping Hand Foundation for medical health check up of fellow policemen. The app provides customized diet charts and exercise routines, medicines and counselling to cops.

The Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, Mr. C.V. Anand was shocked by the results of a health check-up survey of fellow policemen. At least 60% of them had lifestyle ailments such as high blood pressure and diabetes, and their BMI was over the permissible limit. Many of these people were not even aware of their diseases. That is why Mr. Anand planned to set up a continuous monitoring mechanism to ensure cops’ fitness.

MoU WITH HELPING HAND

In March 2022, the city police entered into MoU with the Helping Hand Foundation and tasked them to take up a health survey in all police stations in the west zone.

“We did research on an experimental basis on the entire West Zone by noting down all their parameters and studying their BMI (Body Mass Index) and the result was astonishing!” Mr. Anand shared in an exclusive conversation with Indian Masterminds.

FITCOP APP

Mr. Anand then came up with the idea to create an app that would aid police officers in leading healthy life. He developed the “Fitcop app,” which offers instant access to a variety of health resources, advice, and assistance from medical professionals and therapists.

The Helping Hand Foundation will create a road map for each cop to get rid of medical comorbidities. Additionally, the app connects users to a dietitian, physical trainer, counsellor, or doctor via an in-app chat or call feature.

“Every police officer will be required to feed in their blood pressure and sugar levels three times per day, and their diet will be adjusted accordingly. They will also get an exercise routine according to their parameters, and each one of them will be continuously monitored,” said Mr. Anand.

REGULAR UPDATES

The police personnel will also receive calls through the app wherein they will be asked if they have done their exercises for the day and have been following their diet strictly.

“They will also be reminded to keep updating their BP and sugar levels regularly if they are failing to do so. This will help the officers to keep their fitness levels in check.”

FEATURES OF THE APP

While describing the features of the app, the officer stated that Fitcop was built on the fundamental model of the three Ds—Diagnose, Develop, and Do—wherein each unit officer will be diagnosed. The staff’s daily physical activity and progress would be recorded in a digital dashboard under the supervision of officers.

“The department’s overall performance and the well-being of society are facilitated by improved productivity and better decision-making. We are the force’s commanders, and it is our responsibility to look out for the wellbeing of our people,” shared the officer.

The app was launched by Mrs. Lalita Anand, CP Mr. Anand’s wife, who shared her self-transformational journey from being a diabetic to becoming free of all ailments and enjoying good health by using a health care service provider app.

The department also organised a health expo where different goods and services were displayed in booths manned by representatives of fitness equipment manufacturers, diagnostic businesses, medical specialists, therapists, and other related businesses.
