The celebration of India’s environmental warriors is not complete without recognising those who make the larger conservation ecosystem possible. At the fourth Eco Warrior Awards, the coming together of leading public sector enterprises, government undertakings and institutions from diverse sectors reflected an important reality: protecting the environment is no longer the responsibility of one department or one profession. It is a shared national endeavour.
The evening’s sponsors represented this diversity particularly well.
Hamdard Laboratories, with its deep association with medicinal plants and traditional knowledge, brought to the occasion a natural connection with the conservation of India’s botanical wealth. The contribution of medicinal plants to human well-being has always been closely intertwined with the health of ecosystems that sustain them. Its association with the Eco Warrior Awards therefore added a meaningful dimension to a celebration centred on nature and its protectors.
The energy sector was strongly represented as well. GAIL India Limited, described as India’s leading natural gas company, came on board with its evocative philosophy, “Energising Possibilities.” The phrase acquires an interesting resonance in an event where the country’s environmental challenges and its aspirations for sustainable growth converge.

Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd., with its tagline “Fueling growth, enriching lives,” represented another important dimension of India’s development story. Its presence alongside an environmental awards platform highlighted the continuing need to reconcile economic activity with responsible stewardship of natural resources.
For an event celebrating forests and wildlife, the association of Jungle Lodges & Resorts Limited was particularly apt. Its invitation—“It’s Wonderful out there in the WILD. Come. Be Born Again.” – captures the transformative power of experiencing nature at close quarters. Responsible tourism can play an important role in creating awareness and building a constituency for conservation.
The country’s petroleum giants also lent their support to the Eco Warrior Awards. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., with its message “Enriching India, Energising Lives,” and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, whose guiding phrase is “Shaping the future,” brought the perspective of enterprises that occupy a critical place in India’s economic and energy landscape.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a Maharatna company in the oil and gas sector, was another valued sponsor of the evening.

Taken together, the sponsors represented an intriguing cross-section of India – healthcare, energy, minerals, tourism and large public-sector enterprises. Their presence reinforced an important message running through the Eco Warrior Awards: environmental responsibility cannot remain confined to the forest department or conservation community. It has to permeate every sector of the economy and become part of the country’s larger development conversation.
That spirit found its symbolic expression as the evening moved towards the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony – a ritual that represents the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.
At an awards ceremony dedicated to those who protect the natural world, the symbolism was especially appropriate. The light represented not merely knowledge, but the collective illumination that comes when institutions, enterprises, communities and individuals come together around a shared purpose.

The Eco Warrior Awards celebrate the guardians of nature. Their sponsors, in their own diverse ways, helped illuminate the larger ecosystem of responsibility that makes conservation possible.
