Deputy SP Daughter Salutes DIG Father, Emotional Netizens Go In A Frenzy

Apeksha Nimbadia got selected into UP Provincial Police Services (PPS) in 2019.
Indian Masterminds Stories

One is obviously happy if his child is selected for a prestigious uniformed service. But, imagine the joy of a father in Khaki whose daughter – also in khaki – salutes him at her passing out parade. The incident that took place at Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, has sent netizens in a frenzy after ITBP tweeted couple of adorable pictures from its official handle.

The daughter in the picture is Apeksha Nimbadia who graduated from Uttar Pradesh Provincial Police Force as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) after completing two years of training at Dr BR Ambedkar Police Academy, Moradabad. Her father Mr APS Nimbadia is a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), posted at Bareilly in UP.

Mr Nimbadia during his stint as DIG, ITBP may have received innumerable salutes from fellow officers and jawans but this was the one which overwhelmed him completely. He was beaming with joy when Apeksha saluted him after her parade got over. Someone caught the moment on camera and it became a source of joy for millions of people through social media.

SOCIAL MEDIA FRENZY

ITBP shared three pictures through its twitter handle and also splashed them across its Instagram and Facebook pages. The posts were flooded with emoticons and messages congratulating the father-daughter duo. Besides the most talked about picture of the daughter saluting her father, there is also a family photo in which Apeksha is seen with her father and mother Bimlesh and a third photo depicts the father-daughter standing next to each other posing for the camera.

Apeksha qualified UP Public Service Commission with the ninth rank in October 2019. She could very well have opted for an administrative job as Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officer. But, she opted for Provincial Police Services instead as the love for khaki runs deep in the Nimbadia family. Her grandfather Bani Singh, too adorned the uniform before retiring as Honorary Captain with Jat Regiment of Indian Army.

STERLING CAREER

The Nimbadia family is a native of Uvapur village in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Apeksha was always a prodigy. She got selected in engineering immediately after passing class 12th. She graduated from Gautam Buddh University in Greater Noida by topping her batch.

Apeksha cleared the NET to receive Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and joined Indraprastha (IP) University, New Delhi as Assistant Professor. Soon after she was selected in UPPSC exam and joined the police academy at Moradabad for training.

SHOE IN THE OTHER FOOT

Apeksha’s photos saluting her father might have become social media rage but this is not the first time that such emotional pictures emerged from uniformed forces. But, that time the shoe was in the other foot as it was the father saluting his daughter.

Mr Uma Maheshwar Sarma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) at Hyderabad was equally proud to have saluted his daughter Sindhu Sarma, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Jagtiyal district in Telangana. Mr Sarma who had started his career as a sub-inspector in 1985, earned his stripes and became DCP, Hyderabad.

Though Sindhu had cleared UPSC and got into the IPS in 2014 itself, it was only in 2020 both had to work together on the same assignment – at a rally of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) at Kongara Kalan, just outside Hyderabad. Mr Sarma was more than happy to have saluted his daughter. “She is my senior officer. When I see her at work, I salute her.” It was a big day for both of them. Ms. Sindhu also commented about the moment, stating “I am very happy. This is a good opportunity for us to work together”.

THIS ONE TOO

ITBP has had its share of such father-daughter comraderies earlier as well. Diksha Kumar, who had joined ITBP as Assistant Commandant after clearing UPSC exam, was saluted by her father Kamlesh Kumar after her passing out parade at ITBP Academy in Mussoorie in August this year.

Later Diksha said, “My father is my role model, he always motivated me.” Her father too said, “I was overwhelmed with emotions as my daughter surpassed my achievement. I felt proud in saluting her”.
