Bhojpur Police is being heaped with praises these days. After the arrival of the new SP, IPS Vinay Tiwari, there have been many changes in the work module of the police department. By adopting modern methods, the police personnel are unceasingly taking action to prevent crimes. Along with this, they are also trying to win the trust of the public by adopting the principles of community policing. In the last four months, they have found more than 100 stolen mobiles and returned them to their original owners. This week alone, they have handed over 34 mobile handsets to the SP office.

Indian Masterminds interacted with Mr. Vinay Tiwari, a 2015-batch IPS officer and Bhojpur district’s current SP, and learned about his various initiatives for better policing in the district. He said that the campaign to recover stolen goods was started on the auspicious occasion of 15 August. Since then, the police have been taking action against crimes like theft, robbery and snatching, and winning public trust with the help of community policing. Community policing refers to reducing the distance between policemen and citizens to such an extent that policemen become an integrated part of the community they serve.

INITIATIVE STARTED ON 15 AUGUST

IPS Tiwari was made SP of Bhojpur district on July 14 this year. At that time, there were reports of missing mobile phones in the district. At the same time, the greater danger was that the stolen mobiles were being used by the criminals to carry out crimes. But Mr. Tiwari formed a special team as soon as he took over the charge of the district and made them undergo technical training. Thereafter, the team was instructed to conduct raids to recover mobile phones.

Talking to Indian Masterminds, Vinay said, “After my appointment in the district, I launched a special campaign against mobile theft. For this, first, a team was formed and trained how to do technical investigation. In today’s era, data is called gold. Therefore, if someone’s mobile is lost, then a lot of valuable access can go into the wrong hands. That’s why this team was especially given technical training. I personally meet with this team every week and give directions.”

With the help of technical help and surveillance through the concerned police station, the special team recovered more than 100 multi-media mobile phones and delivered them to their owners in the last four months. Mr. Tiwari said, “Another basic objective of ours is to promote community policing. We want to connect with common people. That’s why we call people, listen to their problems, and return what we have recovered.”

OTHER INITIATIVES

Mr. Tiwari further said that “apart from this, Bhojpur police is also running a campaign against narcotics and liquor,i.e. drug and alcohol, results of which will be seen soon. Along with this, a big initiative – Central Investigation Room – has been created for speedy disposal of pending cases. For this, special training has been given to all the concerned personnel, from the sub-inspector to the constables.”

He also informed that there was a big traffic problem in Ara (the district headquarters of Bhojpur district). “For that we have created many new traffic posts. The police have been provided with modern equipment, including hand-held traffic signals. Results are much better now.”
