Tihar’s Famous Jailor is Back, This Time With Legal Knowledge Loaded With Drama & Entertainment

Indian Masterminds Stories

In recent times, the mode of content consumption has evolved rapidly with ease of social media accessibility. While the films and television shows are still there, we have new additions like web series and podcast on OTT platforms. The regulation of content has become a challenge due to the abundance of platforms and content. Every third person is an ‘influencer’ and, as a result, cyber crime is on the rise.

It becomes very difficult to investigate each and every case as the modus operandi changes. The offender can be in UP and the victim can be in Mumbai. The only way to prevent such crimes is through awareness. And, what could be a better way than social media to make people aware? The dashing Jailor of Tihar, Deepak Sharma, has come up with the idea of an investigative podcast called ‘Puchtaach’. With only few episodes released on YouTube, the podcast is already getting good views and garnering much attention. The format of the podcast makes it quite interesting and enjoyable to watch.

In conversation with Indian Masterminds, Mr. Sharma said that his intention is to inform people and increase their legal knowledge so that they can never be fooled by cyber criminals.

WHAT IS PUCHTAACH

‘PUCHTAACH – Ab Khulega Raaj’ is a series of podcast by Mr. Sharma. Till now seven episodes have been released that feature various social media celebrities and influencers. In every episode, a celebrity is called and Mr. Sharma takes on the role of an investigator. He asks them about the controversies created by them and also addresses the wrong posts shared by them on social media.

An still from the podcast

“The idea is to educate the influencers along with their viewers. We tell them how such posts can get them into trouble, and what kind of activities come under the purview of the law, like, for instance, defamation or blackmailing,” he explained.

THE NEXT STEP

The shows is Mr. Sharma’s brainchild. He has already done various reality shows with Vidyut Jamwal and Akshay Kumar. With Puchtaach, he is trying his hands in acting, too. About the permission required for such shows, he said, “I have taken a blanket permission but such shows are created with the purpose of increasing awareness. That is our work. Besides, every government official is allowed to do or explore things which can improve their personality.”

The show also showcases the ways an investigation is done. Mr. Sharma aspires to make turn it into a show like the famous ‘Janta ki Adalat’, in the coming years. He also shared that if everything goes well, he will tie up with big OTT platforms to reach a bigger audience.
