New Delhi: State-owned Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has awarded a manufacturing contract worth ₹64.31 crore to RRP Defence for supplying 16,035 MEPRO X6 Day Sights, strengthening India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities under technology transfer arrangements.
The contract will support domestic production of advanced electro-optical weapon sighting systems through collaboration between BEL, RRP Defence, and Israel-based Meprolight.
Technology Transfer Boosts India’s Indigenous Defence Manufacturing
RRP Defence will manufacture the advanced day sights in India under a technology transfer agreement with Meprolight, Israel. The partnership aims to enhance India’s domestic capability in producing modern defence optical systems and reduce dependence on imported equipment.
RRP Defence to Manufacture 16,035 MEPRO X6 Day Sights
Under the agreement, RRP Defence will supply 16,035 MEPRO X6 Day Sights to BEL. The MEPRO X6 is a compact and lightweight 6x magnification telescopic day sight designed for use with assault rifles and light machine guns.
The advanced sighting system provides improved accuracy, target identification, and operational effectiveness for military personnel.
100% Indigenous Manufacturing Through Technology Transfer
RRP Defence stated that the MEPRO X6 Day Sight will be manufactured completely in India with a target of achieving 100% indigenous content.
The localization of production has been enabled through the technology transfer agreement signed with Meprolight, allowing India to develop expertise in advanced electro-optical defence technologies.
Strategic Partnership Between BEL, RRP Defence and Meprolight
The contract strengthens the strategic collaboration between BEL, RRP Defence, and Meprolight.
The partnership is expected to improve India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem by supporting technology absorption, local production capabilities, and the development of high-end military equipment within the country.

Rajendra Chodankar, Founder and Chairman of RRP Group of Companies, said that the collaboration with Meprolight has helped the company acquire advanced technology, manufacturing expertise, and exclusive rights to produce the MEPRO X6 Day Sight for the Indian market.
He highlighted that the initiative will contribute to India’s goal of achieving self-reliance in advanced weapon sighting systems.
Boost to India’s Defence Manufacturing Goals
The latest contract reflects India’s growing focus on indigenous defence production under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Domestic manufacturing of advanced optical systems will help strengthen supply chains, reduce import dependency, and enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces.
