Patna: Bihar Rural Development and Information & Public Relations Minister Shravan Kumar highlighted the state’s efforts to expand education infrastructure and improve access to learning opportunities for students.
Speaking at an event at Pannu Lal Singh College in Jatichak, Masaurhi, he said 1.70 lakh Class 9 girls in government schools received bicycles for the first time in 2008, helping students travel to school more easily.
The minister also inaugurated a modern seminar hall at the college, constructed at a cost of around ₹75 lakh.
Expansion of Higher Education
Shravan Kumar said several engineering, polytechnic and medical colleges and universities have been established in Bihar to provide students with more opportunities within the state.
He said the government is also providing students with benefits under bicycle, uniform and scholarship schemes.
According to the minister, more than 19 lakh children have benefited from the bicycle scheme so far.

Model Schools and Degree Colleges Planned
The minister said model schools and degree colleges are being opened in every block of Bihar under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
He also said B.Ed colleges will provide courses across different subjects. The government, he added, is focusing on improving educational opportunities and facilities for students.

₹75 Lakh Seminar Hall Inaugurated
The newly constructed seminar hall at Pannu Lal Singh College is intended to provide students with opportunities to participate in seminars and gain knowledge beyond classroom learning.
Shravan Kumar said education is changing rapidly and students need exposure and practical knowledge along with textbook-based education.

Focus on Student Opportunities
The initiatives highlighted at the event point to a broader focus on improving access to education, expanding institutions and providing students with better learning facilities.
The minister said the government would continue working to strengthen education infrastructure and create more opportunities for students across Bihar.
APU Vice-Chancellor Prof Upendra Singh, Masaurhi MLA Arun Manjhi, MLC Dr Anamika Patel, former Magadh University Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Ganesh Mahato and other officials, college representatives, teachers and staff attended the programme.
