Patna: The Bihar Government has assured farmers that there is no shortage of fertilizers in any district and that adequate stocks are available to meet demand during the Kharif 2026 cropping season. Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha reviewed the state’s fertilizer availability and distribution system on Friday following reports circulating on social media regarding alleged shortages.
During a review meeting with Agriculture Department officials, the minister directed authorities to maintain strict monitoring of fertilizer distribution and ensure that no irregularities affect farmers.
Bihar Has Sufficient Fertilizer Stocks, Says Agriculture Minister
Addressing concerns over fertilizer availability, Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said the state has adequate fertilizer stocks and regular supplies are being maintained across all districts.
He emphasized that the Agriculture Department is continuously monitoring fertilizer distribution and will not tolerate negligence or any disruption in supply.
According to the minister, as of July 10, Bihar has the following fertilizer stocks:
- Urea: 4.33 lakh metric tonnes
- DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate): 1.43 lakh metric tonnes
- NPK Fertilizer: 2.52 lakh metric tonnes
- MOP (Muriate of Potash): 0.69 lakh metric tonnes
- SSP (Single Super Phosphate): 1.26 lakh metric tonnes
The government stated that these stocks are sufficient to meet farmers’ requirements during the ongoing agricultural season.
Zero Tolerance Against Black Marketing and Hoarding
The Agriculture Minister reiterated that the Bihar Government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against fertilizer black marketing, illegal storage, hoarding, overpricing, and unauthorized interstate transportation.
He instructed officials, especially in border districts, to launch special inspection drives to prevent:
- Black marketing of fertilizers
- Illegal storage and hoarding
- Unauthorized interstate transportation
- Sale above the prescribed prices
The minister warned that individuals or organizations found violating the rules would face strict legal action.
Farmers Asked to Collect Purchase Receipts
To safeguard farmers’ interests, Vijay Kumar Sinha urged farmers to always collect a purchase receipt while buying fertilizers.
He advised farmers to immediately report any dealer found charging prices above the approved rate or supplying substandard fertilizers.

The minister assured that written complaints would be investigated promptly and necessary action would be taken without delay.
Government Prioritizes Timely Fertilizer Supply for Kharif 2026
The Agriculture Minister said ensuring the timely availability of fertilizers at the prescribed prices is one of the Bihar Government’s highest priorities during the Kharif 2026 season.
He stated that the government has activated administrative machinery at the state, district, and block levels to monitor fertilizer distribution and eliminate any possibility of irregularities.
According to the minister, the government remains committed to protecting farmers’ interests and ensuring they receive fertilizers without facing shortages or unfair pricing.
Officials Directed to Strengthen Monitoring
The Agriculture Minister instructed Agriculture Department officials to maintain continuous surveillance over fertilizer distribution across the state and respond swiftly to complaints received from farmers.
He also appealed to farmers to report any irregularities immediately so that strict action can be taken against those attempting to exploit the agricultural community.
The Bihar Government reiterated that protecting farmers from black marketing and ensuring uninterrupted fertilizer availability will remain a top priority throughout the ongoing farming season.
