New Delhi: In a fresh round of bureaucratic appointments and administrative reshuffles, the Government of India has issued key notifications assigning important roles to senior and mid-level officers across departments, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), and cadre-level changes in the Indian Administrative Service.
IPS Vikash Kumar Appointed Superintendent of Police in NIA
Vikash Kumar (IPS: 2020: CH) has been appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), India’s premier counter-terrorism investigation body.
A 2020-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, Vikash Kumar is regarded as a promising young officer with a strong academic foundation in engineering. Before joining the civil services, he worked as a software engineer and hails from Gaya, Bihar.
In his relatively short but impactful career, he has handled multiple field assignments in Chhattisgarh. Notably, he served as Superintendent of Police in the Anti-Narcotics Task Force in Shillong, Meghalaya, indicating exposure to inter-state and specialized policing operations.
His appointment to the NIA is expected to strengthen the agency’s operational capabilities with fresh talent and technical expertise.
IAS Ankit Kumar Agrawal Appointed Director in MSME Ministry
Ankit Kumar Agrawal (IAS: 2012: UP) has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises for a tenure of five years.
A 2012-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Agrawal is currently serving as Director in the Department of Minority Welfare in Lucknow, a position he has held since January 26, 2025.
Born on August 20, 1986, and originally from Bihar, he is an engineering graduate from HBTI, Kanpur, with a specialization in Electronics and Communication. Known for his administrative acumen, he has held
several key positions throughout his career, including:
- District Magistrate and Collector
- Chief Development Officer
- Joint Magistrate and Sub-Collector
- Vice Chairman and Special Secretary roles
Fluent in both Hindi and English, Agrawal brings extensive field and policy experience to his new role in the MSME Ministry, which plays a crucial role in driving India’s economic growth and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
IAS Hitesh Kumar S Makwana Repatriated to Tamil Nadu Cadre
Senior IAS officer Hitesh Kumar S Makwana (IAS: 1995: TN) has been repatriated to his parent cadre in Tamil Nadu to avail promotion benefits.
Currently serving as Surveyor General of India since November 11, 2023, Makwana’s repatriation has been approved by the competent authority following an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on April 15, 2026.
The move comes after his empanelment for Secretary-equivalent posts in the Government of India on February 28, 2026. During his central deputation, the Tamil Nadu government had already granted him proforma promotion to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary.
With his return to the state cadre, Makwana is expected to assume responsibilities aligned with his upgraded rank. Prior to his central deputation, he served as Principal Secretary and Chief Resident Commissioner at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi.
He had also held the position of Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, reflecting his extensive experience in governance and administration at both state and central levels.
